Why Early Access?

“As an ambitious sandbox survival game, we want Rock Hoppers to be the best game it can possibly be, and the only way to accomplish that is to work closely with our community. Early access allows us to receive constant feedback and adjust our development cycle to the needs and desires of our player base.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We consider Rock Hoppers to be a long term commitment and expect it to be in constant active development for the foreseeable future. We do not anticipate leaving early access for a year or more.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Although Rock Hoppers already has a rich variety of content, we anticipate adding significant new content over time including environments, enemies, and tools. We also intend to add robust game mechanics for agriculture and resource management, as well as more powerful levels of end-game technology.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay mechanics are already in place, including single player, multiplayer, and dedicated servers. There are multiple biomes either complete or in-progress, each with its own enemies, buildings, and locations. We anticipate adding further refinements and customization options.

We already have hundreds of building blocks, dozens of creatures both hostile and friendly, and scores of armor, clothes, and weapons; more than enough for an engaging challenge. However, we still have some 50% of the game's content to create.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Although we have made no final decisions on pricing yet, we do not rule out a modest price increase when Rock Hoppers eventually leaves early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will use Discord and Steam forums to communicate with our community, gathering feedback on experimental builds and integrating that feedback into our development process. We anticipate creating dedicated builds to test and evaluate proposed new features. We will refine this process as development progresses.”

Whether you're alone or with friends, Rock Hoppers offers a unique new survival challenge. Explore and conquer your way through a procedurally generated asteroid belt full of dangers and wonders!

You start with nothing but an oxygen tank and a beat up old vacsuit to your name. Earn that next meal and that next breath of air by working for the local factions or strike out on your own in search of fortune. Your goal is not just to survive, but to thrive, and just maybe, to save the belt.

EXPLORE THE ASTEROID BELT


Explore a hostile alien environment where man is not an intruder, but merely a nuisance. Encounter a wide variety of aliens both weird and terrible. Build a vessel and set out in to the void in search of new biomes and new challenges.

BUILD A BASE TO PROTECT WHAT'S YOURS


You can start out small or aim big, but you'll need to defend you and yours from the constant threats the belt will throw at you. Experiment with new building styles in a world where up and down are only as good as the nearest gravmat. Build defenses both automated and manned, and progress through the tech tree to constantly improve your build. Hire guards, miners, and engineers to man your base and keep it humming.

GATHER, LEARN, AND CRAFT


Travel the length and breadth of the belt collecting resources for armor, weapons, vehicles, and more. Harvest alien plants. Spin the flesh of your enemies into filament for your fabricators, and complete special missions for unique and powerful rewards.

  • Play alone or with friends. Extensive customization options let you run your own dedicated server exactly how you like it.
  • Customizable weapons and armor allow you to create the right build for you and for the enemies you'll face. Craft and find clothes and armor, melee and ranged weapons. Equip your friends and your colonists with the gear they need to survive.
  • Build or destroy the entire world. Every block, every wall, every piece of ice or stone is destructible. Hollow out an asteroid or convert a broom closet. Manage power and oxygen for yourself and your people.
  • Build and fly vehicles with the help of friends or hirelings. Fly in groups or pack into a single ship. Find vehicle upgrades that will let you make your vessels truly your own.
