What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We’re launching PButtons in Early Access to refine the experience together with the community. The game already includes 30+ handcrafted levels, each introducing unique mechanics and challenges.

Our goal is to reach 60 fully polished levels for the full release, while maintaining a fun, focused, and rewarding puzzle experience.

Early Access will help us:
- Fine-tune the difficulty curve based on real player feedback.
- Add new levels and mechanics inspired by community ideas.
- Ensure every puzzle feels satisfying, intuitive, and clever.

PButtons is a solo project built with care and attention to detail. Your feedback will directly help shape its final form.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We aim to stay in Early Access for around 12 months, using this period to improve the experience, expand gameplay, and shape the final version of PButtons with community input.

This timeline is designed to:
- Gradually supplement the existing 30+ levels until we reach ~60 complete puzzles,
- Introduce new mechanics based on community feedback,
- Refine UI/UX, sound, performance, and balance over multiple updates.

Our intention is to share a clear roadmap with regular updates (ideally monthly or bimonthly) and maintain transparency about our progress. If the timeline changes, we’ll communicate the reasons — and how it benefits the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of PButtons to expand this content to around 60 handcrafted puzzle levels, each building on the core mechanics with increased complexity and variety.

We're also considering introducing a symbolic progression system: for every 5 levels completed, players may receive a unique collectible token. These would be purely visual and thematic — abstract shapes (like diamonds or geometric forms) or stylized constellations, representing progress in an artistic way.

After completing the main set of levels, we hope to include a Free Play Mode, allowing players to revisit any unlocked stage in any order. This would offer flexibility for those who enjoy replaying puzzles or perfecting solutions.

Additional improvements being considered for the final version include:
- Enhanced UI and smoother level navigation,
- Finalized sound design and polish,
- Optional Free Play Mode post-completion,
- Additional visual and accessibility options,
- Potential localization into other languages.

We welcome community feedback and suggestions during Early Access, as they will help us shape the future of PButtons.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version 0.5.0 of PButtons includes 33 handcrafted puzzle levels, along with a functional main menu, player profile system, and settings menu. These features form the foundation of the game’s structure and experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes — the price will increase at full launch to reflect the new content and polish added throughout development.

Here’s how we plan to handle it:
- During Early Access, PButtons will have a lower initial price to reward early supporters.
- As new content is added (levels, tokens, Free Play Mode, UI improvements), we may apply gradual price adjustments tied to major updates.
- Before the full release, we’ll publish a clear announcement and roadmap so everyone has the opportunity to get the game at its current price.
- Everyone who purchases PButtons during Early Access will receive all updates and the full version at no additional cost.

By supporting now, you’re not only helping the game grow — you’re also securing it at the best possible price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“PButtons is a solo project, but it’s built with players in mind — and community feedback will play a key role in shaping the final game.

Here’s how we plan to involve you:
- Listening to feedback through the Steam Community Hub and review comments,
- Tuning puzzles and difficulty balance based on player behavior and suggestions,
- Adding mechanics and content ideas inspired by player input (when they align with the game’s design),
- Posting regular updates and devlogs directly on Steam to share progress and development decisions,
- Occasionally running polls to help prioritize improvements or features.

All communication, updates, and discussions will take place within Steam — the platform where the game lives, grows, and evolves.

The more feedback we receive, the better PButtons becomes — not just as a puzzle game, but as a creative experience players enjoy returning to.”

About This Game

Have you ever felt the urge to press a button — even when you knew you weren’t supposed to? In shops, museums, or even at home, there’s something irresistible about a shiny red button just sitting there, begging to be pushed.

What will happen if you press it?
Will a mechanism spring to life? Will lights flash? Will an alarm sound? Or… will it explode?

PButtons turns that instinct into a puzzle game. Here, the red buttons — called PButtons (for Passive) — are just out of reach. You can't click them with your mouse. Instead, they must be triggered by something else in the environment: a falling object, a mechanical arm, a chain reaction — anything but your direct input.

Your only control? The AButtons (for Active) — square buttons in various colors that you can press to interact with the level. These stand in contrast to the round, red PButtons, which serve as passive elements within each puzzle.

Every level is a small logical machine: press the right AButton at the right time, and you might trigger a mechanism that helps activate the PButton. Understand how the system works, solve the puzzle, and enjoy the deep satisfaction of watching that forbidden red button finally light up.
