Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Dagger Woods VR to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 9 months. This gives us time to develop the game to its full scope, respond to player feedback, provide more accessibility options, support more VR devices, and continue to improve performance and features.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During the Early Access, we are hoping to gradually release the next chapters of the story. As the story progresses, these chapters will include expanded regions, additional storylines, and deeper gameplay mechanics such as more interactable elements, environmental events, and accessibility features. If you wish to join us at this stage, you will be able to contribute to our episodic release as they are being developed and tailored to the feedback throughout the Early Access period until the full season is complete.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version holds the official demo of the game, which covers the story up to the end of Chapter 1. Later updates on Early Access will gradually release the next chapters once they are fully developed, polished, tested, and tailored to our players' feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price of Dagger Woods VR will increase as major features and content updates are added throughout Early Access. We would love to appreciate our early players, so those who join early will get access at a lower price while helping shape the game’s direction.”

About This Game

Based on the true story of the fires in Caledonia Mills, Nova Scotia, Canada. The investigation was never resolved; any interpretation of this story is up to you!

Dagger Woods VR is inspired by true stories and local legends, offering players a psychological thriller experience that combines elements of puzzle-solving, clue-finding, mystery, and adventure.

The narrative centers around Maggie Carmichael, a single mother in the 1950s, and unfolds a day after her three children mysteriously vanish in the snow-covered woods. The game explores Maggie's haunting journey as she intertwines historical events with her determination to confront a malevolent force lurking in Dagger Woods. Maggie believes that the woods have been haunted by Hidey-Hinder, the Dagger Woods Howler, since the 1700s.

She connects several historical incidents to Hidey-Hinder’s influence, including the story of Mary-Ellen MacDonald and the 1922 fires in Caledonia Mills, NS, which share eerie similarities. Both Maggie and Mary-Ellen were adopted into new families during their teenage years, and when confronted about their actions, both exhibited no memory or rationale for them. Witnesses in both instances reported that neither Maggie nor Mary-Ellen were capable of causing the incidents, and they described experiencing numerous abnormal occurrences, sensing dark energy, and observing inexplicable phenomena.

Drawn to these parallels, Maggie begins to question the supernatural influence of Hidey-Hinder on her own life. The creature is notorious for preying on vulnerable individuals, coercing them into committing heinous acts, or causing them to disappear without a trace. Determined to rescue her children from Hidey-Hinder's clutches, Maggie embarks on her quest, during which the creature attempts to communicate with her.
