What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have been working on the game for a long time, and its reached a point where the basic level to level gameplay is more or less completed, but we want to add more levels, clean up and art and sounds, and add bosses and enemies and additional modes, while keeping the player experience in mind through feedback. We are a small team of only 2 people so some parts of the game are more cleaned up than others. Right now the single player adventure is several fun levels in a row, but without bosses or the story that we want to tell. There are also a couple parts of the game such as online modes or the level editor which are workable in a beta state, but simply need more polish, and we would love to get feedback on those modes while pushing them to completion.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Ideally between 6 months to a year. We want to get things completed as quickly as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I mentioned this a bit in answer 1, but we plan the full version to offer the original 6 worlds fully fleshed out with levels and 2 additional worlds. It will also include boss fights and a significant story experience, as well as fleshed out online modes (which already exist in a barebones capacity). The level editor will also be much more thoroughly tested and easy to use.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the early access version is that there are 6 playable worlds which range from 60 percent complete to around 80 percent complete. Each world has roughly 30 levels at the moment. The player can also use a beta stage level editor, use online modes in some capacity, and upload, share, and play other's levels on the workshop. Some menus are not complete and some game modes are barebones or in beta stages. But the main experience is there!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are planning to have the game priced the same during early access and afterwards. The advantage of the Early Access is being able to play the game immediately, rather than waiting for full completion, and also having their feedback be relevant to the final state of the game upon release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are primarily using a discord server to discuss feedback and post announcements. I will also be responding to reviews on Steam. Have been told multiple times by testers and people who have played early that we respond well to feedback and listen actively to our players.”
