What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fact of the matter is that I have little time for game development while I work so I wanted to publish a product that represents my vision even though it's not polished.
Depending on interest and feedback I plan to either modify the ending to close up the story or to further develop the game.
I'm always open for external help.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to come to a conclusion about the future of this game about 6 months in and as mentioned depending on the feedback I'll close up the story in a short time or further develop the game for a longer time. The more external people are willing to help, the faster development will be.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has unfinished graphics, temporary sounds and a not fully fleshed out character development.
For the final product I plan to make the world more detailed not by adding additional maps but by allowing for more interactions and being consistent with graphics and sound.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of now about 1/3 of the written story is implemented and playable in this version.

Features

  • 2 Night phases and 1 day phase playable
  • Unfinished but rich story with unanswered questions at the end
  • 1 small, 1 medium and 1 big puzzle
  • Realistic chase mechanic of main monster
  • Some interactions that change if player died previously

The rest of the features can be taken from the "About This" section.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“If the game is not developed further, it will remain free as it is at the moment.
However, if the rest of the story is realized, I plan to put a price tag on it.
The costs would roughly correspond to those of similar games such as "The Witch's House MV" or "Ib".”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The more people who want to help the better!
For now please leave your feedback in the Steam Forums or contact me on Discord.
My username is koko53.

The best scenario for the future would be to open a Discord server where people can add/change assets on their own initiative.
Then a vote would take place and if the majority of the community likes the new asset more than the old one, the new one would be implemented into the game.
Both creators (old and new asset) will be mentioned in the credits.

I'm open to change anything in the game except the core story and some character designs but as long as the other suggestions are more popular than the current state I'm down to modify it and credit the member appropriately.”

About This Game

About

Deaf Wish has the typical characteristics of an old school japanese Horror RPG with its focus on puzzle solving and dealing with emotional trauma.

You'll play as Lily, a young girl who lost her father at an early age and who's mother became unstable because of it.
The gist of the game is that during day-phases you'll encounter reoccurring problems in Lily's life which you'll then process in her dreams.

Since the game is in its Early Access Stage only 1/3 of the story is currently playable.

Features

  • No real audio during day-phases to emphasize with Lilys condition
  • Slight horror with its focus on story.
  • Bloody and implicit scenes.
  • Physical save points (interaction with a blue teddy to save)
  • Controller Support
  • Puzzle solving
  • Detailed chase mechanic
