Miksi Early Access?

Snapshot Aquarium is my long-term hobby project. Early Access lets me develop in public and collect feedback/ideas. Updates will be irregular—usually in bursts, not weekly.

Indefinite. I’ll keep tinkering as long as it’s fun. It's fun since 2015!

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

More content, more creative options, better fish AI, and I have plenty of ideas for online community features.

Playable and with a basic game loop: You can unlock 300+ items in photo challenges, design and share your aquariums, raise fish, visit other players' tanks. The free Demo is always updated along with every new patch.

Snapshot Aquarium is an aquarium sim with skill-based photo challenges.

It's for people who love fish and aquascaping—but want something more engaging than just feeding (or selling) fish every day. It’s calm, but not idle: patience and timing matter.

  • Shoot with patience: the photo mechanics reward waiting for the right moment, clean focus, and species combos.

  • Build cozy habitats: keep your fish thriving and get a higher rank in the online gallery to draw more visitors.

  • Share & explore: publish your tank and visit creations from players around the world.

(Not a hardcore management grind, not a clicker. It’s for folks who enjoy slow crafting—and the thrill of landing the perfect shot.)

A long-term project

I've been tinkering on Snapshot Aquariumfor for over 10 years, and I’d love your support to keep adding features for many more. This is a calm, craft-at-your-pace project—built to grow with the community.

What’s in the game today

Arcade-style photo challenges

  • Easy — relaxed and forgiving; auto-aim allowed

  • Regular — fewer shots per target; auto-aim still allowed

  • Hardcore — very limited shots; manual aiming and focus is mandatory

Basic fish AI

  • Shoaling, fleeing, feeding, and near-realtime growth

  • Aggressive species will chase others

Aquarium editing

  • 3D backgrounds, lights, plants, decorations

  • Over 300 items included already

Community challenges

  • Publish your aquariums to a public in-game gallery

  • Take on photo challenges in other players’ tanks

Planned / wishlist features

  • Personal photo gallery

  • More fish species, more plants, more decorations — more of everything

  • Deeper simulation of fish needs, better AI, and better animation

  • More creative options (aquascaping)

  • Community photo quests (find the fish!)
