Why Early Access?

“After having done quite some development already, we now feel comfortable enough to let people play an early version of the game. In this way we hope to gather some fresh insights, some exposure, and valuable feedback. As a result, Treefender will be a living canvas where we develop features together with the "Communitree". Making it as fun as it can be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This is a tough one to tell. Our roadmap leads us to the final release, but since our team is small and time is very valueable, it's hard to say. To name a rough date, let's keep winter 2026 as a guideline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Here's a list of what we as developers think makes Treefender complete:

• A campaign with a neigbourhood to explore containing different trees, unique landscapes and a challenging unique boss.
  
• 4 different enemy types, each one with their own unique strengths and weaknesses
  
• Different slingshot bullets, including: scattershot, explosiveshot, alienshot
  
• Scenario editor, where enemy invasion can be modified as well as starting amount of koinz or peaceful mode: where it's all about relaxed treefort building and not so much about alien shooting
  
• More optimizations
  
• Ridiculous weapons and tools
  
• Fun achievements

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The basic gameloop is slowly coming together. You can create or join a room on the network and share an invite code with others. You can build some basic objects and aliens will invade and attack after time. There are 4 different enemy types and they drop rewards when defeated. A research system is in place as well, allowing you to spend Koinz on new buildables. There's also a tutorial to get the hang of the basics. After doing some extensive playtesting ourselves, we think there's already quite a lot of fun to have in this early version. The dronestation creates some interesting situations to try out!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as Treefender grows and more features, exploration and content are added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a discord server where we announce and discuss updates. We also keep our eyes peeled at the community here on Steam. We will propose new features and content through surveys and let people vote. Our Roadmap is publicly accessible and gives a good overall idea of what we want to achieve.”
