12th Century, medieval Tuscany, a land rich in history and legend.
It's here that the tale is told of a man who loved the pleasures of life and the company of women. He chose the military path, soon becoming a knight. For many years he lived carefree, committing dishonorable deeds, until he became a wandering knight.

One night, after yet another raid, Saint Michael appeared to him in a dream, urging him to redeem himself and walk the righteous path.

The following morning, Galgano, this was his name, chose to save his soul. He took his sword and, as a sign of redemption, drove it into the ground, embedding it in solid rock.
Thus began his life as a hermit.

Years passed. The world changed and fell into darkness, lust, and corruption…and Galgano’s soul changed with it.
Slowly, he returned to his old ways, raids, brawls over trivial matters, acts of arrogance and cruelty.

It did not take long for him to find himself in trouble once again, lost, alone, abandoned…

…and so, the story repeats itself…
