What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is very early in development, and still has many features yet to be added. Such features include a point system, more weapons, more boats, and perhaps even more features that the community can think of.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in early access for the next few months while I implement everything else I have planned.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version of Armada, I have several key features planned. The largest of the bunch will be a dedicated points system and store, in which you can purchase boats, weapons, and special ammo. The points will work similarly to how they work in strategic fps games like CS:GO and Valorant, in which you gain points by defeating enemies and destroying boats, along with other side objectives to come in the future. After the game has ended, the points will transfer to a local high score, which will represent a combination of the playtime and skill of the player, and will not transfer between sessions of gameplay. Eventually, there will be a leaderboard of the highest ranked players, along with your own placing.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Armada in its current state is very simplistic, with the main components of its combat and general gameplay. In its current form, the player is capable of taking control over the boat or one of the two cannons, and shooting them at other ships in an attempt to sink them. Or alternatively, the player can board the enemy boat and kill the other player with their sword. Other than that, the game is more akin to a demo or playtest than a true game, having no real end goal or incentive to play or succeed over your opponents. It is planned in the near future to provide true gameplay to players, but will currently reside in its very basic form as a way to gauge the primary aspects of the game, and narrow down what needs to change and what kind of bugs need to be fixed before I proceed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I do not plan on changin the price unless I believe the final product is substantially better than the current early access version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will provide a crucial role in how I develop the game over its lifetime. As I want to provide an enjoyable experience for the majority of my playerbase, I want to take feedback from the steam community section that all games have and try to solve any problems the community discovers. Furthermore, I will be setting up a discord in the future if the community grows to a larger scale than I can handle alone, and can assist me in communicating with the players and even get new ideas as to how the game can build upon itself overall.”

About This Game

Early in development, Armada is a first person shooter that takes inspiration on naval warfare, allowing you to take your own boat into open waters and fight others in a fast paced, closed arena. Later in development, players will be playing for points, which they can use to upgrade their boats and weapons mid game to try and gain the upper hand on their opponents. There are no teams, and it's every man for himself. Dodge cannons and boats as you sail across the waves in Armada.
