What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This game is a passion project of over 50 people from the Homestuck community. As such, we are very dependent on the community and want to let people enjoy the game and give feedback before it is done. The game has already been in development for four years and during that time we released "pre-alpha" versions to the community, for which we receive bug reports and gameplay suggestions. Early Access would be a continuation of this effort with another layer of stability, granted by Steam.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As there are a lot of missing features, we plan to hoist the game out of early access in around two to four years. While this might sound like a long time, there are a lot of nuances to a proper playable and finishable session. Implementing these will take its time and we hope you are as excited as we are for seeing the game advance to this point.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version we aim to replicate Sburb, but obviously it will never be as in the comic. Not everything makes for fun gameplay, is possible to implement in reasonable time, or is possible to implement at all (unless someone invents time travel). Some things we do plan to include:
  • Frog breeding
  • Visiting Prospit and Derse
  • Land quests
  • God tiering
  • Conversing with and/or killing your denizen
  • Beating the Black King

There are more features we are planning to include in the full version, which aren't included in this list, so we hope you look forward to them. Above features may not be completed in that specific order, but rather whether they can be reasonably implemented into the state of the game at that time (considering playability and difficulty).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Recently, the game experienced a full overhaul of the multiplayer code in order for it to be a lot less buggy as well as some quality of life improvements to some sprites. As of now, you are able to create your own, unique character, build your house, alchemize unique weapons and gear, enter the medium, explore your land, loot dungeons, extinguish imps and beat a certain tyrant (if you want to find out what that is, we suggest you explore your land and find the huge dungeon this fiend resides in).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As this is purely a passion project, we plan to keep the game free-to-play for everyone to enjoy.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As development moves on, we plan on having multiple layers for community to introduce ideas and report bugs. As of now, players can report bugs and suggest features on our Discord server, as well as apply for playtesting. Playtesters specifically receive builds a lot more frequently in order to find critical bugs that may impair gameplay. During Early Access, as well as once we release the full version, we will continue to listen to the community for new ideas and interesting concepts.”
