Why Early Access?

“Amazing Frog? 2 is an ambitious, fun take on the sandbox genre. With an open world filled with a variety of sandbox content. Early Access is an opportunity for us to build out the main map (SwindonShire) to implement further key features and refine our vision through community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend for Amazing Frog? 2 to be in early access for a minimum of 18 months, and hopefully no more than 24.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In Early Access Amazing Frog? 2 is already fully playable and our intention is to continue adding more content. (Also, we reserve the right to suddenly add something weird just because we think it's funny.)

What is currently in Amazing Frog? 2:

1: Gameplay
Single player or up to 4 player split screen with remote Play functionality.

2: Swindonshire (The Main World)
A 20 km open world physics sandbox landscape of mountains, forests and beaches, ocean, a freshwater lake, with a day night cycle, a growing ecosystem, a road network, a train line all around the walled central town of Swindon, which features emerging shops and other explorable interiors and facilities, eg Frogmilk Coffee co, The Tourist Information Centre, Fart Gyms, Fantasy Bazaar toy shop, Lick Dovett Automobile Centre and more.

3: Population and Wildlife
Currently including a frog population with differing motivations and an evolving ai and navigation system that also governs the rideable Pigs, Alligators and Sharks.

4: Items and Vehicles
Lots of functioning weapons and gadgets - machine guns, explosives, sniper rifles, shotguns, crossbows, toy guns, eggs, smashable mugs, also an evolving Melee System with items like baseball bats, knives etc …interactive gadgets:- gas canister “jet packs” and “helium balloon packs”, flyable remote drones, video cameras, handheld playable gaming devices, interactive pamphlets (for tourists), torches, paint cans and lots more.

Vehicles existing are cars, mopeds, BMXs, Jet Skis, dinghies, Helicopters, biPlanes with mounted machine guns.

5: Unlockable Content for the core game content systems (F.A.P.S. and W.R.A.P.S.)
(F.A.P.S - Fairly accurate placement system | Wardrobe, Rigs, Anatomy and Physiology System)
Floppy Disks discovered, unlock the ability to spawn items/creatures from a “F.A.P.S.” terminal.
Items of clothing and accessories can be discovered and unlocked by completing tasks and then can be accessed in the Wardrobe.

What we are planning to add for "The Full version"

Naturally we will endeavour to bring more, vehicles, weapons, items, creatures and optimizations, here are the top line features that we have begun development of and as we start Early Access we will be working toward integration to Amazing Frog? 2.

1: Inventory System
It is imperative to build a robust inventory system to access, collect, save and transport weapons and items from one gameplay session to the next and allow the gameplay to evolve over multiple gameplay sessions.

2: Travel Agency
The travel agency will allow the players access to smaller worlds with more bespoke and focused gameplay allowing the game to draw attention to particular gameplay styles and modes - such as A Battle Simulator using F.A.P.S or focused artificial intelligence situations. Worlds designed for more “physics heavy” gameplay and spaces created bespoke for Racing, Stunts and competition. These break off worlds will also allow us to refine particular game mechanics prior to integration in the main world. It also should open the possibility for workshop in the future.

3: I.P.A.C.S + M.E.D.S Next Phase
(Intelligence and Player Avatar Control System + Motivation, Energy and Directives System)
IPACS and MEDS are the systems that control the frogs and creatures in Swindonshire. All the frogs and creatures currently have the same underlying systems with the same capabilities as a player. We want to introduce more “types”, “roles” and “mutations” to the citizens. Each frog currently has a base type and we wish to increase the parameters that influence behaviors eg fear levels, fitness, sense of justice. A role is like a “temporary job” e.g. “Cleaning Frog” (collects trash and disposes) or “Police Frog” (attacks frogs with weapons or invading creatures) A mutation can effect any frog eg rage (like the existing purge frogs) or Zombie mutation which can be applied to any living creature.

4: Saving World Data (F.A.P.S. extension)
F.A.P.S. is at the core of Amazing Frog? V3 and as we introduce more complex items that can be created using a F.A.P.S. terminal, saving the set ups created will be an important feature.

5: The Bank of Swindon
The Bank is the key to many of the town's emerging features such as the coffee shop, clothes and gadget shops and the car Mod-shop. The bank will allow the players to have an in-game bank account that gives them access to earned in-game currency that can be used to buy a coffee or a T-shirt or to modify your car etc. This system is related heavily to the inventory system.

For over 10 years we’ve been working on Amazing Frog? and all its versions. We are very committed to its ongoing development. The sandbox nature of the game allows us to continue to add content, but also to respond and listen to the community as we develop.”

“The intended launch price will be higher when the game releases into 1.0.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Amazing Frog? 2 community will continue to play a key role in the development process. Communicating through the Steam Forums, comments and blog posts will remain a staple. Our official Discord server is an external platform that allows for live developer interaction, supported by our community-managed social media channels.”
