What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Thank you for being interested in the project to the point of entering this Steam page. I'm Gabriel, the only developer on NEVERMORE: The Chamber Door. There's no team or publisher here, just me with a lot of work, effort and passion for what I'm creating. It's been a challenging experience and being part of early access to this project is a way of telling me that it's worth it to keep working.

I decided to release the game for early access to gather as much feedback as possible to improve the game. If you find any bugs or have any ideas on how to improve the game, please feel free to share your thoughts with me. Any comments are very welcome!

And also very important: Early Access is a way to raise money to invest in the project. As I said before, I'm the only developer and it's been a big struggle to keep the project alive.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to release the full version of the game in the second quarter of 2022. I'm doing everything possible to finish the game and I want to complete Early Access as soon as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“You’ll notice a big difference between the EA and full version of the game.
The full version will include new moves, new enemies, new NPCs, the complete history of "Nevermore", Steam Achievements and countless other updates/improvements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game is focused on combat. I am a huge fan of hack n slash games and am striving to create a challenging gameplay experience. I hope to get feedback on the mechanics I'm creating to make them even better.

So far, there are 15 different enemies, including a boss, each with its own "mirror card" that you can use to build your character according to your combat style.

NPCs are present. You can upgrade your stats with "Steef, the Witcher" and craft mirror cards with "Souji, the Mirror Crafter". In addition to equipping your cards on the statue of Athena.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game price will change when the full version is released. The exact price is still undecided, but you can expect it to be higher due to additional features and improved gameplay.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“My plans are to receive as much feedback as possible to further implement the project. Anyone can participate in the project by giving their opinion through the community tab, discord, or twitter. I will love to hear what you have to say.

Fan art contests are also in my plans!

Get in touch with me on Discord or Twitter!”

About This Game

In the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator is faced with a creature that enters his room and remains on the bust of Athena, goddess of wisdom, thus placing himself above reason and logic. The crow speaks only one word, "Nevermore", which the narrator interprets in different ways to answer his own questions.

In THE CHAMBER DOOR something similar happens, but before Athena a door opens, a portal to another world of creatures and demons of nightmares. While the dark-feathered raven contrasts with the marble of Athena, of light and darkness, life and death, our hero is taken by something above reason, making him enter that door with the certainty of the unknown.

THE CHAMBER DOOR is a game of introduction to the NEVERMORE universe. You will be introduced to fluid combat mechanics and endless possibilities. Aggressiveness and agility is the basis of combat, you will be rewarded in a combos ranking system where your variety of blows is your greatest weapon, but beware, NEVERMORE contains dangerous creatures and any mistake can be your last.

As you progress through the game, you'll craft exclusive mirror cards to build your character according to your combat style. Each card can bring new abilities, new mechanics or even improve your stats.

When passing through the CHAMBER DOOR you will face hordes of varied enemies in an arena system, at the end of each level you find a passage to proceed to the next one. As you defeat these hordes, you will eventually come across more powerful entities and stronger bosses.

If you fail and get defeated, you will return to the first level, however, in a roguelike system, you keep the souls you captured in your last adventure to evolve your charms through the statue of Athena, thus becoming stronger and more prepared to advance further more on your next try.
