《幻想三国志4》是由宇峻奥汀研发、寰宇之星和游戏天堂联合代理的单机角色扮演游戏。
故事背景设定在第一代的约十年之后，除了开展系列作中最新进展的剧情，也继承了前几代三国战役及独特的世界观，历史人物、军师猛将也在此代出现。

公元208年赤壁之战后，蚩尤现世、群魔乱舞。而后蚩尤伏诛，神州各地自此宛如惊弓之鸟，各尊神佛、各拥仙灵，大规模的猎魔行动从此展开。魔族馀孽被逼四处逃窜，或隐匿行藏，或群起反抗，原本便已纷乱垂危的汉室天下，因此步入更黑暗的时期。

公元215年，正值刘备入蜀、自领益州牧，孙权回秣陵、得荆州三郡，曹操平定汉中、称魏王，就在三方势力明争暗斗、互有增长的同时，一个名不见经传的少年却在紊乱的世局中掀起滔天巨浪。

阵型系统

《幻想三国志4》阵型系统，阵型范围及策略性大幅提升。本作敌方人数为5x3，最大同时可以有15位敌人进行战斗；我方角色则为3x3，战斗人数也增为6位，展开同时共有21人参与战斗的大混战！

化神系统

化神系统大幅提高神兽支持的地位，变为主要战斗角色。只要在阵型编制接口设定好支持神兽，进入战斗后不需经过召唤就自动出现于战场上，并且会依据玩家所指定的阵型位置就位。
