What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cyberforge takes some well known gaming paradigms and is attempting to update and merge them for contemporary platforms. Due to this there are many things that need a larger number of players willing to try and share their experiences, both good and bad, with us so that we can make informed choices based upon what our player base wants most.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate this game to be in Early Access for another 6-12 months depending on resources and public reception.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Full version of Cyberforge: First Light will offer a more complete endless mode with leader boards for competitive motivation and benchmarking plus several additional mechanics, like rogue-lite boosters/modifiers to provide variety and replay-ability. Levels, enemies and character options will be thoroughly balanced and expanded. We would also like to make the game playable in some sort of multiplayer online, most likely through Steam Remote Play.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

  • Full Controller support
  • Up to 3 players in local coop
  • Rudimentary AI for CPU controlled hero units (expect new verisons often)
  • Levels are functional and connected and enemies vary in number and type each time a room is entered.
  • Enemies become progressively stronger with each room you explore.
  • Game balance also very rough at the moment (also frequently updated)
  • Each hero has a full set of equipment but alternate options for weapons and armor will be expanded over the course of EA

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Cyberforge: First Light will remain free even after Early Access as its purpose is to be an early alpha game preview of a more fully featured game to be released in the future. That future game will have an immersive "Story Mode", with more environments, enemies, equipment and player options and choices that will influence the story as it progresses.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are hoping that by releasing this game in Early Access that we will gain valuable insights into the desires of those who want Cyberforge to be as awesome as we do.

We will be reading reviews and will consider all feedback, suggestions, complaints and celebrations here on Steam and on our reddit page, when we decide where to focus our efforts. It is our firm belief that truly great games can only be made when the real players of those games are heard by the developers. We promise to be open, candid and responsive in our journey together.”

Early Preview

Cyberforge: First Light is an early alpha game preview of the full version, to be released some time in 2021. We look forward to your thoughts as we improve the game together.

The game has been in production for only 3 months so far, so expect some small bugs. The full game will feature a more robust survival mode and a full story mode where players will discover what happened to humanity and whether this trio of dwarves has what it takes to make it home alive.

About This Game

Cyber Forge is a top-down adventure with real-time tactical combat, team-based puzzles and RPG elements. Far from home and with no memory of the apocalypse, the dwarves do what they do best - Fight, Loot and Forge. Move into position and work with your fellow dwarves in a real-time game of tactical leapfrog. Choose the right dwarf for the right job and your way forward will be much smoother.

Grab an extra controller or two and enjoy the game with friends with seamless drop in/out co-op play.

  • Switch between dwarves to use their special abilities to solve puzzles - hacking, jumping, pushing objects
  • Join or leave a game at anytime - play with up to 3 players
  • Hack, smash or bypass murderous robots to progress deeper into this urban dungeon
  • Strive to survive in the all new Endless Mode (new content added weekly)

Cyber Forge follows a trio of cyber-enhanced dwarves as they fight their way free from the clutches of an evil AI overlord. Despite their differences the three must learn to work together to carve a path through robotic minions, unlock new technologies, and forge advanced cybernetics if they hope to make it out alive.

The Berserker is a prime example of the stereotypical dwarf, he loves beer, beards, and banging on things. He is reckless in action but also a savant when it comes to mechanical things. He makes the mistake of thinking the Striker is a damsel in need of rescue.

The Striker is a bit of a control freak, everything has a place and everything should be in it. Her game theory is unparalleled and her loyalty is hard won but eternal. Many dwarves disapprove of her vocation, considering espionage and assassination to be very un-dwarvenly.

The Defender, our final hero has always put his clan before all else. A traditionalist, he understands the strength of teamwork but is extremely stubborn and carries an air of righteousness that can come off as pompous and, at times, even naive.
