Miksi Early Access?

Usurper: Soulbound began as a collaborative effort with a talented 3D artist who helped shape the early game. Since entering Early Access, I’ve taken on the role of primary developer, handling most aspects of development on my own. As a solo developer, Early Access has been invaluable. It has allowed me to share updates with a dedicated (though small) player base and receive critical feedback to guide development. This direct connection with players drives the process forward, helping me refine mechanics, polish content, and ensure every update improves the experience. I believe involving the community in this way is the best path to creating a truly memorable game, and Usurper would not be where it is today without it.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

The game has come a long way since its Early Access launch, and we’re now approaching the finish line. I plan to release the full version in 2025, but this will depend on final polish and player feedback. My focus is on ensuring that Usurper: Soulbound delivers the best experience possible.

The full version will complete the game’s content and polish. The final boss and ending have now been added, marking the completion of the core journey. However, feedback from Early Access players has always guided improvements, and I’m committed to making final tweaks based on the community’s input.

The full single-player campaign is now playable, including the final boss and ending sequence.
Local co-op is fully supported, and online play is available via Steam Remote Play Together.
Three realms, each with two dungeon floors, unique enemies to possess, and challenging boss encounters.
The final chapter and epic showdown with the final boss have been added.

The price will not change during early access, but I plan to increase the price upon full release.

Gameplay

Wield the power of the Usurper as you fight through horrifyingly beautiful planes of existence. Possess your enemies, gain their abilities, and unravel the twisted legacy of a tyrant king.

Challenging Souls-like Combat: A tough-but-fair Action RPG experience that rewards skill and strategy.
Unique Possession Mechanic: Use the Usurping power to possess enemies, turning their abilities against your foes.
Local Co-op and Online Play: Play with friends in local co-op or online using Steam Remote Play Together (instructions below).
Dynamic Environments: A blend of hand-crafted and procedurally generated dungeons ensures each run feels fresh and exciting.

Online Play with Steam Remote Play

To play Usurper online with your Steam friends (People you want to play with must be in your steam friend list) follow the instructions below:

Launch the game.
Make sure your friend is logged in to Steam
Open your Steam Overlay in-game (shift+tab).
From your friends list, select 'Remote Play Together'.
Your friend will receive an invite. Once your friend accepts the invite, they will be in-game with you.

Story

This is the tale of a King, whose rule was so horrifying, that his soul refused to move on and clinged to the world of the living by possessing the bodies of others by using the power of the Usurper.
