What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Project Existence is a massively multiplayer virtual world prototype that can be considered a game play and technology sandbox. The prototype is our way to explore ideas and implement new features while inviting players to try out and follow the development process. Project Existence is not a game, but a live development environment that is constantly evolving as we lay the groundwork for our upcoming debut title.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan on updating and improving the prototype significantly in the next few months. The world is made with heavy input from the community and will slowly evolve into a playable game. We can't say a specific time for when Project Existence will exit early access, but if we have to guess we would say sometime in mid 2022.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will depend on the players. So far, we are planning to add the following features:
  • A lot of improvements on core gameplay, UI/UX, Quality of Life and game systems
  • An even larger world that you can explore
  • Crafting and automation systems
  • Dynamic landscape and weather
  • A collaborative mission system

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a very early stage of development right now. Project Existence is a single, persistent sandbox world that you share with other players.

Since releasing in Early Access we worked on manufacturing and automation features, quest mechanics and building. For the past few months, we've been focusing on the technology aspects of the game, and are slowly transitioning back to implementing gameplay features. Right now we have implemented weather systems, resource harvesting and the first iteration of settlements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan on having Project Existence free-to-play during and after Early Access, but this could be subject to change.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe in open-development and want to be very transparent and open about what we are working on. We use Discord to make it easy to engage and have conversations with our community.

About This Game

Step into the evolving world of Project Existence, a sandbox MMO prototype in active development that lets players test and try out new features and game mechanics. Project Existence is Arctic Theory’s canvas used for design exploration and world building of our upcoming MMO game, all while inviting players to take part in the development process.

A sandbox, multiplayer canvas

The world of Project Existence is constantly changing and evolving. Features and mechanics are implemented depending on what the team wants to focus on next. Creating a massively multiplayer game takes time and effort, and Project Existence is our way to try out new ideas and technology in a live environment.

What to expect?

When you step into Existence (pun intended) you’re greeted with a massive world filled with snow and empty space. The features currently implemented is resource gathering from trees and rocks, and in the coming months we will be introducing a mission based system where you can put those resources to use.

If you’re expecting a game with hours of gameplay, you’re going to be really disappointed. If you’re interested in trying out mechanics as they are being developed, talking to developers and providing feedback, you’re in for a treat!

Since we’re treating Project Existence as our very own personal development sandbox, features we have previously implemented are still subject to change, or even removed completely. Everything we do in this prototype, is laying the groundwork for our future title.

By playing Project Existence, you might experience:
  • Bugs, occasional broken features and sometimes confusing UI
  • Satisfaction when features finally start working properly (maybe)
  • Contemplation of life, and what you’re doing here in the first place

So join in on the fun!
