What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Due to its sandbox nature Buildmark naturally requires a builders community around it to receive actual feedback & inspiring content from real users and thus grow up in right direction. This is a first step to build this inspiring & creative environment were new ideas appears and impressive art being created on daily basis.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“16+ months till release version.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More creative challenges to solve in Play mode, polished build tools to manipulate/setup objects and their properties in 3D space, better UI to tweak post effects on image.
Full List of additional options is subject to change but for now its like that:
- UI to change environment (control over sun/moon/clouds/precipitations/etc).
- UI to add & tweak water (local volumes and infinite ocean).
- Tools for characters importing & posing.
- Tools to play with physics.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Buildmark is using Unity engine (HDRP render pipeline) and it's ray tracing implementation without any modifications. Current gameplay/content status:
- There is a Play mode with two missions. "Night challenge" mission dedicated to experiments with real time emissive lighting, "Art challenge" mission is about importing jpg/png images or even video files from your computer to create a gallery in 3D space and tweaking environment objects.
- No physics (world is completely static), primitive character implementation, almost no sounds except footsteps.
- Play mode has an option to switch to path tracing rendering at any time. Contrary to real time ray tracing this path tracing tech can be used only to generate screenshots, but with very high lighting quality. Particles and water are not supported by path tracing, though.
- And there is a benchmark to test ray tracing performance of given hardware.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After leaving Early Access with huge success(c) price will be subject to change because there will be more content, more features, more fun :).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Join builders community here on Steam or on Buildmark Discord server to see best screenshots achieved with real time ray tracing or share your own creations, leave feedback and post suggestions to improve UI/content, share your dreams & ideas about perfect sandbox game/tools. All this will help shape the course of Buildmark development.”

About This Game

Attention!

Buldmark development is paused and most likely it will be on hiatus till 2025 or so.

*Please, check minimum system requirements before buying - ray tracing capable hardware is required*

Buildmark is a sandbox with gameplay based around ray tracing tech - real time global illumination, reflections and shadows. Take on build challenges to see how ray tracing works and what can be achieved with all it's pros and cons. Also, there is a ray tracing benchmark to decide who is the boss.

Note that currently Buildmark is in Early Access - good enough for beta, but far from finish both in technical and content aspects.
