Since the initial release of our demo many years ago, it has gone through many iterations and changes thanks to valuable feedback from players like you. As of August 2026, our demo now officially has its own Steam Page!

About This Demo

Ten Thousand Coins: The Golden Merchant is a strategy trading game set in a hand‑crafted world where trade and mystery intertwine. Take part in the journey of the fox merchant Viia as she carves a path through peril and profit against the mighty Basilisk Company, and build your own merchant company from the ground up.

Trade your way through a character-driven, non-linear story set in a hand-drawn fantasy world. In this land of cutthroat commerce, every opportunity is yours for the taking if you’re willing to pay the price.

Master the logistics of inter-settlement trade as you manage fluctuating resources and limited cargo space. Read your clients' moods, anticipate their needs, and strike the perfect deal. In a volatile market, timing and intuition are your greatest assets.

The road to riches is paved with peril. Beasts and bandits are a constant threat, but a true merchant knows everything has a use. Engage in turn-based combat where your inventory is your arsenal: weaponise your wares, using the unique properties of your goods to attack or defend.

A merchant’s words are your ultimate weapon: use your silver tongue to negotiate or intimidate your way to a bloodless resolution.

In this demo, you will experience:

• Story Mode - Play the Story Mode Prelude, our first Story Mode section. Follow Viia and her master, Vuut Vuut, as they arrive in a strange land in search of coins and rumours.

• For a Limited Time - Play the first Merchant Job in our Company Mode! Choose your merchant, secure a Company License and begin the first steps to running your own Merchant Company!

• Estimated 1 - 2 hours of total demo playtime.

Please note: As our game is in active development, bugs and balance issues may be present in this Alpha Demo, and improvements to this demo will continue as development progresses.
