Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Successor has come a long way, but there’s still more to add, refine, and perfect. With your feedback and that of the entire community, we aim to keep expanding and improving the game, with a full release optimistically planned for sometime after this summer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At the start of Early Access, Successor will launch with a handful of story campaigns, a few lords and factions, and an experimental version of the Campaign Generator—offering around 6–8 hours of gameplay from day one. Throughout Early Access, we plan to expand the game with additional handcrafted campaigns introducing new lords, heroes, factions, biomes, objectives, and more. We also aim to fully refine the Campaign Generator, hopefully incorporating many of the great features requested by our community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay of Successor is fully playable and has been for quite some time. At launch, the game will feature several story campaigns introducing new lords, heroes, and factions—each with a variety of unique enemies. Players will battle across a diverse range of exotic diorama-style boards.

For more details on what to expect, check out the About This Game section, where we outline the full roadmap, including the content already available and what we have planned for the future.

In addition, we’re introducing an experimental Campaign Generator, allowing players to create their own campaigns with game-changing kickers to keep each run fresh and exciting.

A rough estimate of playtime is around 6–8 hours for the story campaigns, plus a few extra hours attempting to conquer generated campaigns with challenging kickers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

About This Game

FIRST, ABOUT THE DEMO

In this demo, you get to play two short campaigns, a small adventure into the miniature world of Successor.

  • The first, Betrayal, introduces the core game mechanics as you take command of Lord Craigh in his mission to find the culprit of a treacherous betrayal.

  • The second campaign is exclusive to this demo and forces Lord Craig to confront a mighty Necromancer Lord who has risen in a neighboring region, spreading death and unrest with his army of skeletons.

This demo offers just a small taste of what the full version of Successor has to offer. We hope you enjoy your conquest and follow our development journey as we continue developing the game!

Diorama boards are full of tactical options.

Engage enemies across diverse biomes, each offering unique tactical options like throwing axes, burnable fields, and wild animals. Occupy archer towers or strategically position your party to gain the upper hand or kick them off a cliff.

Successor combines real-time strategy with turn-based tactics, letting you pause command and unleash abilities instantly in a Focus Moment — always keeping you in control without waiting for your turn.

Lords & Heroes

At the start of each adventure, you can choose between three unique Lords, each with its own combat style and skill trees. However, the lord alone is not enough. You must build a party of battle-hardened heroes and weaponize them to face the challenges ahead.

Successor is a universe full of unboxed challenges, mysteries, and items set in an adventure generated as procedural regions and kingdoms waiting to be unlocked.

Procedural generated Kingdoms

Dive into a unique kingdom every time! Our game dynamically crafts new regions and challenges for each run. As you play the universe, you will unlock & uncover new heroes, abilities, weapons, and equipment that will gradually increase your chance of survival as you undertake more dangerous adventures.

The developers describe the content like this:

Units are portrayed as miniature figurines. During fights, they spill gore, and when dying, they explode into a red cloud in a cartoonish style. Violence is generally set in an unrealistic and humorous tone.
