What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Challenge Speedball is a game I have been working on for 1 year as an indie developer. I have attempted to learn as much as I can about Speedball, but my hopes for Early Access is to attract the Speedball playing community, and in this way improve the game with actual players of the game. My other goal is to learn from the Steam community in regards to what Steam features they value and want to see added to my game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I plan to release the full version of the game in 3 to 6 months. This could be shorter or longer depending on the feedback and feature requests I receive.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Currently there are 3 playing field variations to choose from. I intend to add more of these, and possibly a way for players to add their own field designs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The state of the game is fully playable in its simplest form. One player hosts the game and others may join. Once a game has completed, the host may restart the game as many times as they wish. The score for each game will be retained for that session. There may be some cosmetic changes to be made to improve the game play experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Early Access will be free and then the price will be raised to a small fixed fee once completed.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to seek out the Speedball playing community and offer the game for their enjoyment. I hope that they will offer suggestions and requests on how to improve the game. I also hope to receive input from the Steam community and learn what features they feel are a valuable addition to this game. Please contact me on the Steam Community Page for this game. I look forward to your input.”

About This Game

Challlenge Speedball is a cooperative multiplayer game based on the paintball variation called Speedball.
In this fast paced competition, teams of 1 to 5 players occupy a small playing field filled with inflatable "bunkers". Each team tries to eliminate each others players by "marking" them with paint until they are all eliminated. They can also win by reaching the other team's home base.
Each game match is timed typically depending on the number of players: 2 players play for 2 minutes, 10 players play for 10 minutes.
Each team will score 5 points through elimination of the other team's players and/or reaching the other team's home base.
Each team will score 1 point for lasting the duration of the game without being eliminated.
The actual game of Speedball is played on a small field where communication between team members is a vital part of winning the game. Team members will call out their position as well as other teams status. Each team will develop tactics and strategies with each member of the team having a designated position and role to play. For this reason we highly recommend communicating during the game using Steam voice chat, Discord, or other means of voice communications.
