What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game that we’re developing is truly experimental; a classic RPG meets a language learning experience. Getting player feedback is critical to our success. to Help us balance the fun factor with an educational experience. We feel this is just the situation Early Access was created for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Terra Alia will continue being developed in the forthcoming months until it is ready to leave Early Access as a final product around the end of fall 2020. We have most of the content already, we just need to make sure that everything is working as it should, fix a few bugs, revisit lighting and camera, add a little more polish, and of course, balance! Tons of things to balance…”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version will have more chapters, quests, puzzles, enemies, spells & abilities, items, dialogue options, languages to learn, and much more of the world of Terra Alia to discover.

Throughout the Early Access process, we will be deploying regular content updates for you to play and give feedback on before we move to the next content update, and until we reach the final version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first two chapters of the game are complete and playable: you have the main quests, side quests, spells to learn, NPCs to meet and a variety of areas to explore.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The first version of Terra Alia only includes the first two chapters and will have a lower price point than later versions. As we update the game with more content and chapters, the price will increase gradually until reaching the full release price once the game is content complete. We believe this is the best way to do it, as we will not charge you full price while not having all the content available. You will, of course, receive all new content updates that are made available after you purchase the game at no additional charge.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We encourage players to come visit us and chat with our development team on our official Discord server, and we also have community managers monitoring the Steam Discussion forums to gather and collect your feedback and input.”

About This Game

Welcome to Terra Alia, an alternate Earth where magic and technology have co-existed since the dawn of history. In a concerted effort to prevent another world war, most nations of Terra Alia have enacted regulations to control the use of magic within their borders. Despite their differences, these regulations all have one thing in common: you must be able to speak and think in the country's native language if you want to use magic.

You start the game as a recent graduate of the leading magic academy in your home country, where you’ve just received an invitation from your old professor and mentor, Professor Esperanto, to study abroad in her prestigious technomancy program. Instead of a happy reunion, however, you find out the Professor has gone missing and you are suddenly thrust into a deep mystery -- one which you have no hope of solving without learning the basics of the local language and unlocking your powerful magical abilities.

Terra Alia offers players a unique and fun way to practice new languages. Expand your vocabulary and learn the basics of conversation while fighting dark wizards, rogue androids, and mythical creatures in this top-down RPG. Explore the beautiful and exciting world of Terra Alia as you try and solve the mystery that awaits you!

In Early Access, you will have immediate access to the first two chapters of the game, and we will update the game with more chapters to progress the story as we continue development, adding more locations, vocabulary, dialogue challenges, characters, items, and abilities.
