Squads of liquidators were sent out to combat this invisible and deadly enemy. They were not heroes, yet they were called upon to perform heroic deeds. In the game Chornobyl Liquidators, alcohol and drugs are used as an element of the world presented. Due to the historical nature of the game, as well as the cultural aspect, it would be impossible to show life in the USSR without referring to such a widespread issue as alcohol (vodka). Moreover, both alcohol and drugs are an interactive element of the gameplay and are used to influence playable characters statistics.
