Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows us to make the best game possible by acquiring feedback from the community. Our main goal is to make the best 2D puzzle editor we can provide. We need your help to come up with crazy and inventive ways to use the mechanics and to test the engine to it's fullest extent so that we can find and iron out any bugs or problems. We are also excited to get feedback and suggestions on how the mechanics in the game should work and what kind of things would compliment the current set of mechanics.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to be in early access for 1-2 years. During this time we will be working to finish creating the levels, story, music, and various mini-games. We also have a long list of new features and content that we will be working to implement as well as suggestions from the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current version has around 100 old puzzle levels and 15 unfinished adventure levels. There is only one song and many of the sound effects are missing or temporary. The core game mechanics are all present and working but we plan make many tweaks and bug fixes. There's a rough intro cutscene and no way to complete the story. The main menu and progression of the game is temporary and will be replaced soon.

The full version will have 40-50 adventure levels with a nice animated story as well as over 100 optional puzzle levels. There will also be a way to share and browse levels and replays from the Steam Workshop from within the game. Eventually we plan on adding a versus mode called Princess Panic as well as a few different mini-games.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We currently have over 100 different puzzle maps that we have created during our development process. These are arranged in 3 different unlockable puzzle packs. We are currently working on the adventure map packs and are around 25% complete with the levels themselves. We have a fully functioning level editor that players will be able to use in the same way that we use it to make our levels. We are working hard on sound effects and music but the game currently only has one placeholder song and a hand-full of temporary sound effects. The intro cutscene unfinished and the overall story for the game can not be completed. The main menu is temporary and will be replaced by a simpler and more elegant solution soon. There is currently no way to share levels from within the game but they can be shared by transferring the level files through other avenues like email. The settings menu and keybindings are still in development and but full controller support has been finished. The game engine is still in development and might not be stable on all computers.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are keeping the price low for early access to encourage people getting involved with the game and help us experiment with level ideas and mechanics. We will also be releasing a free demo version sometime soon that will allow you to play the first few adventure levels for free as well as work with the entirety of the level editor and play any user made levels. Once we release the finished game we plan on increasing the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“During early access we will be trying to get in touch with and encourage level designers. We will be providing ways for early access players to send us feedback and suggestions for what kinds of things should be added or changed in the game. We wont be able to carry out all of the suggestions but we will read and regularly consider the mechanics that have been suggested to us as well as ones that we have come up with. We will have an open Trello board that the community can view to see what kinds of things we are thinking about and working on. Once we have support for sharing levels in the game we might also try organizing some sort of developer picks where we showcase some of our favorite levels created by the community. We want to be as open as possible with the community about how the development process is coming along and we hope to post information and stories about our experiences while making the game.
