What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“If you think building a real-world museum is complicated, try simulating one! But that's exactly what we aim to do: create an ambitious, exciting museum management game... and your support will help us make it even better!

We strongly believe the experience is going to be enjoyable from the very beginning -- after all, that's why we're making it! -- and it will only get better with time and your feedback. It's going to be a fun, collaborative ride, and we're excited to have you join us on it.

(And if you happen to be a philanthropic millionaire -- call us.)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Hard to say right now. We have a roadmap of feature updates, and will share this plan as soon as the game launches in Early Access. That way, the community can follow along with our progress and priorities, and see their influence in action. We're aiming for six months to a year in Early Access, if all goes according to plan. In the Early Access version, you will be able to build exhibit halls from scratch, unlock and place exhibits, manage staff and visitors, and experience a variety of special events as your museum gains in profit and prestige, in a robust sandbox mode.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will expand core museum-building features (construction, management, exhibit unlocking, etc) with input from the community. We'll also add more content throughout development, like new exhibit items, customization options, visitor types, etc.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in Closed Alpha, which is why you can only Wishlist it right now. The Early Access launch is our move to Open Alpha. In the Early Access version, you will be able to build exhibit halls and other facilities from the ground up, unlock and place exhibits, manage staff and visitors, and experience a variety of special events as your museum gains profit and prestige. See the "About This" section for more details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely increase when we leave Early Access, to reflect all the additional content and features added since we started, and to thank our early supporters with a lower price. We’ll notify the community of exactly when a price increase occurs as soon as we have a solid release date, or at least one month before any changes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to remove as many communication barriers as possible between ourselves and the community. There is an easy in-game form to send immediate feedback or bug reports, a public development roadmap and issue tracker, and a Discord channel for direct communication with us . While we have a general plan for the major updates, we’re eager to get your feedback on the rest. By making your voices heard, you'll help us prioritize which features to add or tweak, as well as what sort of content you want to see first. We're also looking forward to re-sharing (with your permission, of course) the museums you build, stories you encounter, and funny glitches you find (before we fix 'em).”

About This Game

Mondo Museum is a management sim that challenges you to construct, administer, and curate your own museum. Choose what items to showcase, draw in the crowds, and grow your collection of cultural, artistic, historical, and scientific displays to expand from a humble exhibit hall into a world-class institution! This isn't your average museum. This is Mondo Museum.

Key Features

  • Construct a Museum: Create your own unique layout by placing exhibit halls, gift shops, theatres, and more. Then customize the look of each room with different floors, wallpapers, windows, and decor. But plan carefully… wouldn’t want to get lost in your own museum.
  • Choose Your Exhibits: Mix-and-match 100+ items across multiple collections, from Dinosaurs to Space Exploration. As your museum gains prestige, you’ll unlock new artifacts from around the world to play with.
  • Put Your Creativity on Display: Dive into an accessible modding system to create your own exhibit items to share on the Steam Workshop. Or download collections made by other players to spice up your museum.
  • Keep Calm and Curate On: Stay on your toes because you never know situations you might encounter. Meet the demands of a visiting VIP and they might loan you a rare exhibit, but keep an eye on that shaky-looking dinosaur skeleton...
  • Manage Your People: Attract visitors, address their comfort, make sure they exit through the gift shop (cha-ching), and manage their experience for maximum prestige and profit! Hire staff like researchers, conservators, and docents; they’ll keep your displays informative and, more importantly, intact.

    Exhibit Collections

As your museum gains international renown, other institutions will agree to loan you new and increasingly rare items for display. Some of the collections include:
    • Dinosaurs: Features classic fossils and the imposing skeletons of dinos like T. rex, Triceratops, and Velociraptor, along with the latest research into their lives (spoiler: they go extinct).
    • Ancient Egypt: An introductory collection from the Nile civilization that spanned three thousand years. King Tut’s riches, Khufu’s great pyramid, and Queen Hatsheput’s monuments, plus items from the daily life of common people.
    • Space Exploration: Follow the progress of international space exploration from Sputnik 1 to the present day. Showcase a wide variety of spacecraft and equipment from the Moon, Mars, and beyond (like those gold LPs we sent to E.T.)!
    • Much More: We have lots of other ideas for collections for when the game launches in Early Access! Different cultures, historical periods, art forms... there's a lot to choose from. Stay tuned for more updates on these and more in the coming months.
