Why Early Access?

“Rogue Glitch is a personal project that has been in development for a number of years. The core systems of the game are in place with a great selection of characters and items, however my ambition is to keep building and iterating with the community! The flexibility to evolve and grow with Steam's Early Access platform is a wonderful opportunity.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I have planned for Rogue Glitch to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Rogue Glitch has a number of systems that allow more content to be plugged in to expand and alter the gameplay experience. With inspiration from the playerbase, I will be adding more characters, items, abilities, minigames and secret rooms that all contribute to making Rogue Glitch feel fresh every time. In addition to new content, I will also be creating new difficulties and challenges to test and reward the best players, while trying to squash the unintentional bugs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The aim of the current build was to create fun moment-to-moment experiences while providing plenty of goals and rewards to work toward. The combat and movement is a mix of retro-platforming and finesse as a result of many months refinement. There's over 80 items to experiment with, 7 character variants, and an interesting villain who drives the story forward after every successful run. Characters can be upgraded over time to become more powerful and customised with cosmetics collected in-game. Multiplayer is implemented and will allow up to 4 players to progress their characters together.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of Rogue Glitch may increase overtime as more content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Rogue Glitch was created with community input in mind. I am looking forward to hearing all the weird and wonderful character ideas, items and wonderful weaponry that could be added to the pool of in-game options. Rogue Glitch Update 1 - New Challenges, Items, New Character, Tweaks and AMA! (v0.102)

Thank you to everyone who has ventured into Rogue Glitch in these early and exciting times! Over the weekend I’ve built the beginning of the challenge system and Steam achievements. Each of these challenges offer a new item for your pool as a reward and the “Untouchable” challenge will grant you access to the latest playable character, Igor.



Igor benefits from a stacking rage affect that increases damage output for a short duration after destroying an enemy. Igor rewards a swift and aggressive playstyle (and may be a tad strong at the moment so give it a whirl before the balance-hammer comes knocking!)

- Character “Igor” added
- Balance changes to reduce unfair spikes in difficulty
- Enemy behaviour and properties tweaked
- Likelihood of especially hard rooms reduced
- Tweaked numerous items, most important changes:
- "Corrupt Items" are more common now
- "SpinningMace" damage increased
- "IceCube" lower chance to freeze but higher freeze duration
- "GoldenAmulet" reduced chance, reduced enemy golden-state duration
- "Grenade" damage increased
- "ExplosiveLove" explosion immunity applied to the whole team
- "MissileBarrage" missile count increased
- "DamageBoost" reduced damage

Rogue Glitch launches in Early Access today!

It feels like just yesterday that Rogue Glitch was a fun little Unity movement prototype on my computer. Two years on, here we are on Steam going into Early Access for the world to see! I’d like to thank all the wonderful people who have been providing awesome feedback over the last year and supporting me with their encouragement.

The months ahead will bring many updates to Rogue Glitch; currently I am working on additional difficulties because I know the super-skilled players will be looking more challenges shortly! In the meantime, I would love to hear your feedback on the current build in the Steam Community Hub.

About This Game

Overview

Rogue Glitch is a platformer's paradise within a roguelite world of procedurally generated levels and arrays of enemies. Develop your character each run with random items ranging from incremental stat modifiers to lethal showers of bullets. Expand your arsenal to include the full range of items Rogue Glitch has to offer by leveling up; then crush bosses to access unique glitched versions of your former self.


Play solo or up to four players to conquer the glitchworld.

Features

  • A narrative told through completion events

Movement

Fluid movement is the core component to making a platforming focused roguelite. Auto-targeting projectiles will fire as you remain within proximity of enemies and a downward stomp allows you increase your damage output. Learn the different enemy types and behaviours to achieve a devastating finesse in combat.

Progression

Rogue Glitch is packed with unlockable items, characters and cosmetics to make every run a worthwhile one. Experience is awarded based on performance which will provide random item unlocks on level-ups. Bosses drop a currency called Malbytes which can be used to upgrade your existing characters into more powerful evolutions. Finally, each completion of a run will progress the story with a mysterious lovable villain, earning the new character variants.

Story

You were once a regular platforming character, running, jumping and shooting in your little 2D world. However things are starting to get weird. Your levels are being scrambled, pick-ups modified, and enemies mutating, The origins of these happenings are unclear but you are curious enough to proceed deeper into the unknown. You meet an ominous being who wants to make a deal...

The Future

Rogue Glitch was created for quick iteration and evolution. More items and characters are already on the way but we're excited to hear your ideas for glitched entities to distort your game.
