What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Grenadier Command is a tactical, turn-based hex strategy game set during World War II. We want to develop it together with players who enjoy classic wargames, tactical decision-making, and scenario-based battles.

Early Access allows us to test and improve core systems such as unit balance, terrain effects, scenario pacing, AI behavior, mission objectives, and battlefield readability. Since Grenadier Command is built around tactical decisions, community feedback is especially valuable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently plan for Grenadier Command to remain in Early Access for around 6 to 12 months. This may change depending on development progress, community feedback, and the amount of additional content, improvements, and polish we decide to add during development.

Our goal is to improve the game properly rather than rush toward a full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand Grenadier Command with more scenarios, additional maps, improved AI behavior, more unit variety, refined balance, improved user interface polish, stronger sound and visual feedback, and deeper tactical options.

The full version is planned to offer a more complete and polished tactical experience. This includes a broader range of World War II-inspired combat situations, improved scenario structure, clearer mission objectives, refined terrain interactions, and better overall presentation.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on the core tactical gameplay of Grenadier Command. Players can command units in turn-based hex-field battles, move across tactical maps, use terrain, attack enemy positions, and fight for mission objectives.

The game includes a playable foundation with World War II-inspired scenarios, multiple unit types such as infantry, machine gun teams, light armor, artillery, and support commands. Some content, balancing, UI polish, AI behavior, and scenario variety are still in development and will continue to improve during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to keep the Early Access price lower while the game is still in development. As more content, features, polish, and scenarios are added, the price may increase before or at full release.

Any pricing changes will reflect the additional scope and overall quality added to the game over time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community by listening closely to player feedback on balance, usability, scenario design, AI behavior, unit effectiveness, map readability, and tactical depth.

Player feedback will help us identify which areas need improvement, which scenarios should be expanded, and which mechanics need clearer presentation or better balancing. Bug reports, suggestions, discussions, and gameplay impressions will help guide future updates and improvements.”

About This Game

Grenadier Command is a turn-based hex-field tactics game set during World War II. Command your forces across tactical maps, use terrain to your advantage, coordinate attacks, and secure mission objectives under fire.

Experience scenarios inspired by well-known World War II battlefields and operations, including Omaha Beach, the Bridge at Arnhem, Bastogne, Stalingrad, Kursk, and more. Each map presents a different tactical situation: amphibious landings, urban combat, bridge defense, fortified lines, armored breakthroughs, forest fighting, bunker positions, and battles for vital road junctions.

In Grenadier Command, victory is not about having the largest force. It is about making the right decisions. Every turn challenges you: Which unit moves first? Which position must be suppressed? Which terrain offers cover? When is it time to attack, and when is holding the line is the better choice?

Tactics over numbers

Your units are limited, every action matters, and every mistake can stop your advance. Terrain, range, firepower, suppression, and mission objectives determine the outcome of each battle. Send your troops forward without a plan and you will lose them. Combine fire, movement, and cover effectively, and even strong defensive positions can be broken.

Features

  • Turn-based hex-field combat – Plan your orders, move units, and launch attacks turn by turn.

  • Multiple WW2 scenarios – Play tactical combat situations inspired by famous battlefields and operations of World War II.

  • Different combat situations – Fight across beaches, villages, forests, hills, trenches, bunker lines, bridge areas, and ruined urban districts.

  • Terrain matters – Use beaches, forests, hills, cliffs, trenches, bunkers, and fortified positions to your advantage.

  • Multiple unit types – Command infantry, machine gun teams, light tanks, artillery, and additional support units.

  • Suppression and fire support – Weaken hard defensive positions before launching an assault.

  • Support commands – Call in additional support such as air strikes to break through difficult situations.

  • Objectives over simple destruction – Secure beach exits, bridges, bunker lines, village crossroads, and other tactical key points.

  • Attack and defense – Push forward as the attacker or hold critical positions as the defender for as long as possible.

Every turn is a decision.

Move your units carefully, suppress strong defensive positions, use terrain, and choose the right moment to strike. In Grenadier Command, victory belongs not to the largest army, but to the better plan.
