What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Songs of Skydale is a small independent project, and Early Access gives me the opportunity to keep improving the game while listening to the people who play it.

The game has already changed considerably since its original Early Access release. Some of the improvements include:

✓ A new prologue
✓ New quests and dungeons
✓ New areas, environments and enemies
✓ Remappable controls
✓ Improved enemy movement and hitboxes
✓ More responsive combat and enemy reactions
✓ Numerous smaller improvements and bug fixes

The game is still being developed. My focus is now on polishing the existing experience, improving the parts that need it and adding new content where it makes the world of Skydale better.

The next update is planned for Autumn 2026.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

I don't want to set an arbitrary release date just to have a date. Songs of Skydale has already been playable for several years, but I still want to improve the overall experience and finish the parts that need more work before calling it complete. The goal is to release the full version when the game feels like the best version of Songs of Skydale I can make.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

I am continuing to improve and polish the game based on player feedback. The goal is not to constantly add features just for the sake of making the game bigger. The focus is on making the existing experience better, fixing issues, improving usability and preserving the character and atmosphere that make Songs of Skydale what it is.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

Songs of Skydale is fully playable and currently offers approximately 6–15 hours of gameplay.

The game already contains a complete world to explore, quests to discover, dungeons to conquer and a flexible character system to experiment with.

Current content includes:

• A colorful open world
• Exploration using maps and clues
• A classless character system
• Action-oriented combat
• 25 quests
• 12 dungeons
• 61 different items
• 14 passive skills
• 5 spells

The game is still being polished and expanded during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

After the game has fully launched, the price will be the same as or a little bit higher than the early access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

Player feedback has already influenced the development of Songs of Skydale, and I want that to continue. I'm especially interested in feedback about gameplay, quests, balance, usability and ideas that could make exploration more enjoyable. If you play the game and have thoughts about it — positive or negative — I'd be happy to hear them in the Steam discussions.”

About This Game

An adventure you have to discover for yourself

Songs of Skydale is a colorful, old-school adventure RPG about exploring a world at your own pace. There is no need to follow a trail of markers from one objective to the next. Take a map, follow the clues you find, talk to the people you meet and see where the road takes you. Skydale is a world meant to be explored — not simply crossed off a checklist.

Explore Skydale

Wander through a vibrant open world filled with quests, dungeons, enemies and places to discover. Use paper maps to find your way and pay attention to the clues you encounter along the way. Sometimes the most rewarding discoveries are the ones you were not specifically looking for.

Shape your own character

There are no fixed character classes. Choose skills freely and combine them with equipment, items and spells to create the kind of character you want to play. Build a warrior, mage, tank, assassin — or something in between.

Fight your way through the world

When exploration turns into combat, use attacks, blocks, dodges, skills and items to overcome the enemies you encounter.
