Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 3 to 6 Months. This time should be more than enough to create a well-polished foundation, I can further expand & build upon.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The development of core gameplay is finished and all implemented mechanics work properly. Early access will focus on additional content, gameplay balance and quality of life updates, additional game modes, as well as enhanced modding support and overall game experience.

My intention is to build a fast paced and fully moddable game that you can then adapt and mod as you see fit. Artworks & Effects will remain about the same. So make sure you check carefully the Gameplay trailers & don't expect any fancy particle systems or 3 minutes animations to cast your spells!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Go through progressively harder levels, outwit your enemies and defeat the stage Boss to earn Tokens & Mastery. Unlock new Races, Classes, and Master even more Skills to use as you Level Up. Use unique and different cards that are build with over 80 distinctive keywords.

Customize your character deeply through a rich RPG system, where your attributes and perk choices matter.

The Initial Set already includes 891 Cards broken into:

  • 9 Playable Races each with at least 15+ Cards.
  • 15 Playable Classes each with at least 30+ Cards.
  • Generic Loot Cards (Equipment & Consumables)

Additionally there are over 130 unique enemies to fight & overcome:

  • 100+ Unique Enemies.
  • 20+ Unique Bosses.

The game is already fully moddable and you can add your own Cards, Enemies, Bosses, Classes, Races, Skills, Perks, Artworks, Sound Effects & Game Modes. Without the need or knowledge of any programming language: just by editing plain text files.”

Patch Notes - EA Build 0200 (Both Branches)

If you are following the development branch, there isn't much to tell rather than show this time. But if you are on the stable branch, you certainly need to check out the past few patch notes, as they make important changes in the Enemy AI among other things.

This latest build focuses on some UI & Graphics improvements.

The stages are all now using high resolution version of their images (as high as it'll get). The card templates & deck graphics changed and there are also a couple more aesthetic improvements here and there.

The tutorial has also been updated & includes some of the latest changes.

Patch Notes - EA Build 0199 (Development Branch)

Most of the recent Patches have been all about buffing the Player, customizable Attributes, better Level up, New Races, Classes, Actions & Action Effects, Perks etc. All the while, the poor monsters were feeling really neglected and rightly so. Well it's time for their vengeance!

Difficulty should now be much closer to the recommended Mastery levels, but of course you are free to mod and fine-tune things to your liking and skill level.

I have updated the Modding guide to include the new keywords available for defining and customizing Game Modes, and the archetype's section with the new AI keywords you can use in your custom enemies.

I'll explain them briefly below:

New Enemy AI Behaviors

  • Flyby Attack

    • Flying Enemy will lose a Flying Counter to Attack twice this turn.
    • When enemies use the Flyby Attack they will receive Retribution damage, but only once.
    • Enemies won't use Flyby Attack if they have 1 or less Flying Counters
    • (This AI response doesn't create a status effect icon, just a floating indication card & combat log message)
    • Wyverns & Demons have Flyby Attack

  • Spiked Armor

    • Unless targeted with a Ranged Action, this enemy will deal Retribution Damage once attacked. This Damage is Intense & proportional to the Action's Damage or Action's Level.
    • Stunned, Frozen & Entangled enemies still deal this retribution damage to the player, as Spiked Armor is a passive effect
    • If the Action has a Direct single Target Damage effect ie. Wrath, Damage, Poison, Intense etc, 25% of that Damage is dealt back to the caster as Intense Retribution Damage. Bonus modifiers like Double, Sneak Attack etc won't apply.
    • Multicast will also trigger Spiked Armor as it individually targets each target.
    • If the Action doesn't deal Damage, the Retribution Damage returned is equal to Action Level + 3.
    • Ulniir, Devils, Wyverns & Zreeblik Race and Death Knight Class Enemies have Spiked Armor.

  • Counter Attack

    • Unless targeted with a Ranged Action, this enemy will always Counter Attack (using their default attack card) each and every time they are attacked.
    • Multicast will also trigger counter attack as it individually targets each target.
    • This attack obviously won't receive player's retribution but can be resisted & defended.
    • Immobilized (Stunned), Bewitched, Entangled & Frozen enemies won't Counter Attack, as Counter Attack is an active effect.
    • Blademaster Class Enemies have Counter Attack.

  • Warcry

    • All Enemies in the Battlefield gain x Rage Counters, where x is equal to half the Warcry caster's level or up to a Max value of +3 for level 6+.
    • Once the enemy allies act their Rage counters will either drop by 1 if they use a different AI response than Enrage, or increase by +1 as Enrage is now a valid response even on AIs that normally don't Enrage.
    • Each enemy can use Warcry only once.
    • Ulniir Race & Battlerager Class Enemies have Warcry.

  • Illusory Copy

    • Enemy will attempt to create a copy of themselves that is 1 level lower than them.
    • If such a level exists a clone of them will be created.
    • Each Copy will further attempt to copy themselves.
    • Devileye, Yakt & Sylph Race and Illusionist Class Enemies have Illusory Copy.

  • Dispel

    • Enemy will attempt a level-based roll to debuff all active buffs in Player (defend, retribution, empower etc.)
    • They can attempt Dispel again only once all their Dispel counters are gone.
    • Mystic is the only Enemy class with this ability.

Misc Changes & Additions

  • Ranged keyword now reads: 'Ranged Actions can harm Flying Targets, won't provoke Counter Attack or receive damage from Spiked Armor.'
  • Flying enemies will lose all they flying counters if they attempt to act with 50% or HP, or if they get Stunned, Entangled or Frozen.
  • Stun, Entangle & Freeze effects can only affect flying targets if they are part of a Ranged Action.
  • Rage will now stop increasing once it reaches 5 counters, and when it does, all rage counters will get removed. Depending how enemy got it in the first place, a new sequence of rage may start over or not.
  • Negative Statuses applied on Enemies & AI Responses can now be searched in the Terms Codex.


  • Drain effect will no longer trigger if the Action isn't ranged & the enemy is flying
  • Neutralized Effects in cards due to positive or negative perk bonuses will no longer appear. Neutralized effects aren't subject to Evolution or Empower and will never trigger or reappear in the card unless the Effect (defined) value + the Perk Bonus/Penalty becomes greater or less than 0, or are re-synergized into the card.

Upgrade non-Skill cards into Skills using Tokens, to make them available any time you need them.
  • Experiment & use different Action Card combinations to overcome hordes of unique enemies. Each with different Damage type resistances and vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize hundreds of Action Cards composed by over 80+ unique effects of different philosophy & complexity. Each Race & Class combination will give you new and unique ways and game play options as you deal with your obstacles.
  • Upgrade your Cards to stronger versions simply by using them.

Grind with respect to your time

  • Earn incrementally more Tokens to Unlock new Races & Classes and Permanently gain Mastery with a Race or Class, each time you defeat a Boss and the longer you survive. Gain extra if you complete the run, and choose exactly which Class or Race you want to unlock next.
