What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Circadian City is a life simulation game that is intended to be played 500+ hours. It is not easy to test every condition and how the design executes itself in specific cases.

Player feedback is the most important input for our design decisions. We want to start our closed alpha with selected players first and then open the game to early access on Steam later on.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“A rough estimate would be 1 year of early access period. If there is interest, we will add more features and stay longer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning to add new content to the game. New NPC, new playable characters, new quests, events, inventory items and zones.

We might as well plan to add new features and we are willing to hear cool ideas from Early Access players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version of the game represents games final version quite well. Most of the systems of the game are working properly including moods, friendships, quests. The amount of content is the biggest difference and the dreams.

We will work on expanding the dream phase of the game during early access and add content to the game in terms of new zones, characters, dialogues, quests and game events. We will try to add new features and balance the game with new feedback from the community.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan on communication using the community hub and other social media such as Facebook, Discord.

The game offers fertile ground for improvements. We want the community to come with new feature ideas to the game and we want to implement them if possible.

The content of the game is extremely scalable. It is quite easy to add new zones, new buildings, new appartments/floors, new characters, inventory items, collectible media and so on... We want to add the favorite content of early access community to the game whenever they are inline with games' tone and rules.

There are thousands of possibilities in the game that are impossible to test one by one. We would ask the players to report the bugs and imbalanced situations.

Also difficulty of the game would require fine tuning and we will tweak the difficulty with feedback from the community.”

Dream until your dreams come true

Last week was like a dream. Not just because it was terrific and all, but because we worked on "dreams." First, there was a lot of reading and talking, especially about Carl Gustav Jung. You see, Mr. Jung saw the mind, the body, and the feelings as a whole, working together, named them all as one; psyche. And he saw dreams as this psyche's way to communicate to the individual.
He also believed that dreams are an essential part of the development of the personality and that they express themselves through the use of symbols. That's what we do as well!

Ok. Then how is this going to work in our game? You will play a character in Circadian City, and during day time, like all of the rest, you will go to work, meet friends and… you'll know what to do.

But, when the night comes, you close your eyes, then comes an opportunity to back up your daily motivations. What do we mean by that? We are designing a dream country where you can plant your courage (to invite the girl/boy you like), gather self-esteem from the fields (for your next business presentation), or maybe trim the crops of fear (of being unsuccessful)...

"I have noticed that dreams are simple or as complicated as the dreamer himself."
C. Jung

At the beginning of the game, the dream-world will be simple, and on a small scale. But when you start to build your personality and focus on what you want to do in your life, this place will be open to you...

Remember that we mentioned before choosing life-goals? Well, each of these life goals will demand a different personality type and different motivations. Your dreams will supply these motivations so that you will be able to focus on your life-goal with your body, mind, and feelings together (aka psyche). As you proceed, you will be able to build more advanced items/feelings.

There will be a lot of features in this part of the game; quests, new NPC's, items and crafting materials (and surely they will all have their pixel-dream-of-a-pony-style).

Here is to the dreams and the masters of the dreams...

"What power would hell have if those imprisoned here would not be able to dream of heaven?"
Neil Gaiman, Dream Lord, Preludes& Nocturnes

A place to lose yourself

Hello Circadian City Citizen!

Here we are, and this time we would like to give you some information about our city’s architectural background. Because, as you will see, this is not a place that belongs to any particular western culture but mixed of its different branches.

For example, In Corot Park (takes his name from French painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, famous for his landscapes) we try to create catchy side seeings and wide green openings. A sort of Hyde Park and Central Park Hybrid. There are also some absurd/unreal-ish sculptures around Corot Park to your amuse.

Jules Street is the financial center. Tall buildings from 50’s NewYork and small stone houses that held its ground against the test of time… Jules Street is designed on open, large spaces for the visionary people of the Business World.

And the Midtown…

Here you can find every interesting item from shops, dedicated to different worlds of games, movies, music, books, etc. You can sense the spirit of any European Middle-age town with a touch of Hipster movement (what a combination, huh?). Rock and brick buildings painted and designed for different themes surrounded by open courts for people who like to gather and celebrate.

We really want you to lose yourself in a timeless, stylish city wherein every part will shift your mood into a whole new level!

So, cheers, and have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious weekend dear citizen.

It's a useless in game item. But it's exclusive. But it's useless. But it's exclusive!

About This Game

Circadian City is a life simulation game with a unique gameplay. It's fun, optimistic, romantic and beyond life itself. Inspired by Stardew Valley, Don't Starve, the Sims and Rimworld.

You came to a big city after graduating from university. You are starting a new life all by yourself. You will be working in a weird company, make friends, go out at nights, develop interests, build a personality and most important of all you will learn how to take care of yourself by managing your hunger, energy, happiness, social needs and stress. Yup, I said stress.

You want to make some friends, but hey, this is a big city and everbody minds their own business. You need to have some shared hobbies with other people to become friends. Don't worry you can improve yourself in many interest areas by watching movies, playing games, taking classes or reading books. Once you become close with other people you can start inviting them to dinner, have fun at night or play your favorite board game together.

Picking your friends is important because becoming and staying friends take time and every close friend you have gives unique bonuses. Furthermore, NPC's have their own friends and social groups that you might join. Doing social activities with your friends helps you collect emotions that you can use to build your personality. More on that later! By the way, have you seen that awesome TV series with dragons and zombies? No? Oh, you're so boring. You should stay up to date in your interests.

Every night, when you sleep, you find yourself in a mostly procedurally generated world. The things you do in your daylife shape your dreams. This is where you build your personality and you have a wild range of playstyles to do so. You can be a patient farmer, a caring rancher, an adventerous miner or an ambitious gamer. This is your dream.

You will encounter mysterious characters, you will find yourself in your memories and you will be awesome like you always do. The emotions you collect in the daytime will help you improve your personality slowly in time. There are 16 different personality paths you can follow and they will have various effects in your daylife. You will gain perks, change what makes you happy and in the end you will search and find a purpose for your life.

What about the love of your life? Let's just say you can freely choose your identity and what you are looking for in Circadian City. When you find the right partner for you, your heart will pound like it's exploding.

We intend to keep Circadian City a long time in Early Access and we have crazy ideas for the game. But we know that you have even more crazy ideas and we want you to bring them in. The craziest part is that the architecture of the game is very scalable, therefore it allows tons of new content and features.

We are together in this adventure. Welcome aboard! Let's make this the game of your dreams. If you want to mod, you can tailor the game to your needs (no violence in any form) and we will support you. If you want us to add a new feature, let's talk about it and see if it fits.

Now wishlist and follow the game, join us in discussions and check the updates often.
