What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“With the Early Access release, we want to provide players with the foundation and all the core game mechanics, which we will then continue to develop and improve together with the players. The goal is to create a game that has been significantly shaped by its players. Early Access players can share their impressions and ideas with us and discuss them on the Steam forum and on our Discord server.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“In essence, this depends on the additional features provided by the players, but we estimate the early access time to be no longer than 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the full free-to-play game with all features and functions, including the world map, AI factions, diplomacy, war, trade, and more. After release, a campaign and various challenge modes are planned to be added.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As previously described, the Early Access version includes the fully playable Free Game mode and all game mechanics. These include, among others:
- All buildings
- Sieges and battles
- A deep, strategically intelligent AI
- An in-depth castle-building system that allows for a great deal of freedom in construction
- Diplomacy
- Trade
- Settling and conquering provinces
- A vassal and lordship system
- Armies and caravans on the Atlas map”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As there will be aditional features in the full version, the price will increase slightly.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Early Access players can share their impressions and ideas with us in the Steam Forum and on our Discord Server.”

About This Game

Hereditas is a medieval strategy game about building a castle, ruling a house and fighting for the crown. Create your lord, found a new house or take over one of eight established noble families – then shape your legacy province by province.

Build your castle

  • Place keeps, residential towers, bowers, service buildings, workshops, gatehouses and walls – from simple palisades to fortress walls.

  • Draw walls with a click, set any wall form and join different wall types, with ladders linking walkways at different heights.

  • Reshape the land with terraforming to find the best ground for your walls.

  • Furnish every floor: great hall, kitchen, infirmary, chapel, armoury, treasury and more – and appoint companions as castellan, chaplain, kitchen master or locator.

Lead your house

  • Create your lord with a background and traits, or lead a house with its own seat, play style and bonuses.

  • Recruit companions with attributes, perks and equipment, send them into battle or into castle offices.

  • Develop villages with fishermen, quarries, mines, orchards, cattle yards, grain farms and more across six landscapes – from river valleys to mountains and swamps.

  • Move goods with caravans, set up supply plans and trade with other houses.

A realm that lives without you

  • Rival houses expand, form pacts, trade and go to war – and build their own castles, from humble wooden forts to the mighty fortress of the crown.

  • The crown watches you: swear allegiance as a vassal and pay your taxes, or refuse and face war.

  • Fight a civil war for the throne, answer petitions and events, and clear bandit camps that threaten your roads.

War and siege

  • Command shield bearers, greatswords, spearmen, archers and crossbowmen, or design your own troop types with custom equipment.

  • Use formations such as the shield wall, loose order and the wedge, and make use of cover, choke points and high ground.

  • Storm castles with battering rams, catapults and siege ladders – or man your battlements and towers and hold the line.

  • Tend your wounded in the infirmary and turn veterans into the backbone of your army.

Build a castle. Build a house. Build a legacy.
