What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is a unique and ambitious game with specific goals and challenges. As a solo developer it's hard work, so I want to make sure that survival horror fans get the best experience possible, and for that I need your feedback and support.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“A few months, as long as it takes to reach the milestones needed for the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In addition to fixes and adjustments based on your suggestions, Eldervale is currently planned to receive 2 major content patches.

The first focuses on replayability and add more difficulty options for combat and puzzles, as well as Insanity, which is planned to be a "modernized" mode with random events and constant threats. This is considered to be part of the full release.

The second patch depends on the game's success, plan is to add a new mode separate from the main story, where you have to survive as long as you can in a randomized environment to unlock more characters to play as, level up to gain perks.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable from beginning to end. Some difficulty options are missing and you may encounter smaller bugs and less polished mechanics.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game is cheaper during early access as a thank you for your trust and patience. After launch, price is planned to increase as more content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Early Access is a great time for you to get involved in the project. Share your feedback and any thoughts about the game on the Steam Community page, Twitter or Facebook and I'll try to answer any and all questions. You can also follow progress made on the game and get notified about new updates. The most active members of the community may also be rewarded with exclusive in-game items, credits and discounts.”

A tip in case of missed weapons!

Hey guys !

Just a quick heads up : if you didn't pick up the third weapon at the end of chapter 2, just keep playing until you find the 4th one. After you have it, save your game, then reload the save and you will have the one you missed in your inventory. You will be able to pick up the next weapon again so you will have all of them.

If the game proves too hard with or without the stronger weapons, remember that you don't need to fight : running and blocking is your best friend ! Hope that helps, have a good one !

About This Game

Eldervale is a survival horror game reminiscent of early 2000's classics. Many elements will be instantly familiar to veterans, while also introducing newcomers to the genre. Exploration and atmosphere is key, supported by varied gameplay like puzzle solving, combat, stealth and resource management. The game builds up story and mechanics throughout it's 3-4 hour playtime until the end.

Story

Ophelia Delaney is a young woman haunted by the early childhood she spent with her parents in the town of Alder Stow. The Delaney family owned a large estate for generations, which was used for many things during the 20th century. All the horrible events that took place there remain unknown. Ophelia was forced to leave town and move to her aunt who raised her. Now, 10 years later, she is tormented by images from the past, suppressed memories and lucid dreams. Those closest to her suggested increasingly radical treatments. After those failed, Ophelia was sure that she can only be cured where she was born. She must return to the Delaney Institution.

Gameplay

The pillars of classic survival horror are alive and well in Eldervale. You must explore and navigate creepy environments with the help of maps and consumables you collect. To open up new paths, you have to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. While initially the Institution may seem deserted, you will find yourself fighting, running or hiding to survive soon enough.

Features

  • Explore a large, interconnected level filled with deadly secrets.
  • Fight, escape or sneak past more than a dozen types of enemies and dangers.
  • Collect and manage items to aid your survival.
  • Solve diverse puzzles and obstacles.
  • Piece together the past of the Delaney Institution and it's residents.
  • Meet other characters and decide their fate.
  • Unlock multiple endings, alternate costumes, achievements and more !

About the Project

As a solo developer and a devout fan of survival horror, Eldervale is a passion project with the goal of reinvigorating a genre I feel is underrepresented in today's market. That said, Eldervale is much more than paying respects to the classics : It puts it's own twist on the genre, making it more accessible to new players as well as nostalgic for veterans. I hope you will enjoy, so I can continue putting hard work in for a genre I love.
