What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We had planned to finish the game in October of 2019, however unforeseen road bumps and creative vision got the better of us. Releasing a game with a rushed ending, or one with significant bugs that we would have chosen to ignore with a "release now, fix it later" mind set didn't seem fair to paying customers. So, rather than releasing a product we weren't happy with or delay the game, why not release the first half of the game (where a narrative break occurs in the story anyway) so anyone who has been waiting for the game can enjoy that much at least. We plan on implementing the suggestions and feedback of the community and to pepper in extra content while chapters five through eight are being completed. The game will be finished regardless of sales during the early access period, and support will continue after as well. We're in it for the long run.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until the game is done. This could be a couple of months, could be a year - but most likely not any longer than that.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include chapters five through eight. With the addition of these chapters comes new weapons, enemies, areas, puzzles, and side quests. A new game+ mode with additional interactions with a certain character, new game+ only side quests, and alternate endings will be available.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version will consist of chapters one through four which includes:
  • An assortment of melee weapons and one-handed firearms.
  • An open world with secrets to discover and fast travel points to unlock.
  • History and lore to unravel.
  • Side quests to complete with rewards that will increase survivability.
  • A shooting range minigame.
  • Demon doggies that you can pet if you sneak up on them. They’re blind and a little jumpy so please have patience with them. Their previous owners were not nice.

Throughout the early access period, new side quests and areas will be peppered in to provide an evolving experience while we toil behind the scenes to finish chapters five through eight.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price has been established.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Suggestions are welcome, bug reports are sought after. If you encounter something and think “Hm, I’m not sure if that’s right,” we would love to hear about it. We intend to interact with audience theories and discussions if any should arise, as well. Dement is a very metaphorical game, so deeper diving into what it all means is very possible.”

About This Game

The town of Wolfvale has many secrets. Located in a mountainous region of Washington, the people are generally pleasant and kind. However, in the small neighboring town of Quiet Mountain, a girl living with her father has seen what lies beneath the mask.

Lily.

She isn't popular at school. She doesn't have many friends. Her home is not as safe as a home should be, especially since her adopted older sibling Ash has moved out. Despite everything, she is a cheerful girl with an upbeat and caring personality. At least until she realized she is being followed - by an individual, and an organization. Perhaps the two are related? Lily can't say for certain, but she knows she isn't safe.

She is to move in with Ash in the friendly Twin Elms Apartments, seated on the edge of the town of Wolfvale. She visits often. She is unknowingly visited often.

In the woods of Quiet Mountain, the organization that is following her is sworn to defend against the darkness of these woods. It seeps into the lives of all who dwell within the towns of Quiet Mountain and Wolfvale. They can see a darkness growing around her.

The lone individual, Taylor, follows Lily as well... but for more nefarious purposes. Obsession. Desire. A want to belong in her life.

Lily is taken. The world is a darker place now, and the people are not as kind as they once were....

A mysterious book, a missing girl, and corrupted creatures all intertwine into a dark adventure to recover someone you love.
In a world twisted by unknown forces, reality is only what you perceive it to be.
