What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Human Error is built on a unique core concept that combines social deduction with cloud powered machine intelligence. We believe that involving the community early is the best way to refine the balance between gameplay tasks and these complex AI interactions. Early Access gives us the opportunity to grow the game alongside players who want to help shape the future of this world.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to keep Human Error in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months as we expand the content and polish the core systems.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to increase the variety of the experience by adding more industrial minigames and diverse AI personality profiles. We also intend to deepen the social deduction mechanics and add more visual variety to the factory sectors.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes the complete core gameplay loop: 5 fully playable industrial tasks, the tracking system, and the AI driven Debrief Session. Players can currently experience full runs consisting of four randomized shifts followed by high stakes interrogations.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features during the Early Access period. Early adopters receive a lower entry price as a thank you for supporting the game during its early development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to be highly active on the Steam forums and our Discord server. We intend to use player feedback to balance task difficulty and improve the logical depth of the AI interrogations.”

About This Game

The Factory is Watching.

You have infiltrated an automated manufacturing plant disguised as a maintenance bot. To uncover the truth, you must blend in perfectly. The machines are efficient, predictable, and cold. Every deviation in your movement, any hesitation, and any "human error" is logged and analyzed.

Perform. Mimic. Survive.

Human Error is a game of high stakes paranoia and mechanical precision. Complete your shifts by performing routine factory tasks across modular test chambers. Whether you are navigating pressure sensitive grids or sorting crates, your performance is being tracked in real time. You aren't just playing for efficiency: you are playing for your life.

The Machine Interrogates You.

Between shifts, the factory enters a Debrief Session. You will engage in free form text conversations with sentient AI units that have been watching your every move. Using advanced cloud based intelligence, these robots will notice if your movement was too erratic or if your reaction times were too slow. You must use logic and deception to deflect their suspicions and frame the machines for your mistakes.

Sustainable Shift Limits.

To maintain the high quality of our cloud-based interrogation systems and ensure sustainable operation, the factory enforces a daily operational limit. Each player is permitted to complete up to 25 games per day. This allows us to provide a deep, unscripted experience for every citizen while managing the significant processing requirements of the machine intelligence.

Key Features:

  • Mechanical Social Deduction: Hide in plain sight by mimicking the perfect, repetitive efficiency of a machine.

  • Adaptive Interrogations: Engage with AI units that actually listen to your arguments and cross examine you based on your unique gameplay data.

  • Industrial Tasks: Master 5 distinct tasks including Scanner Guard, Surface Allocation, and Hazardous Cleanup.

  • Sterile Minimalism: Immerse yourself in a near future industrial setting characterized by clinical unease.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Human Error utilizes cloud based generative AI to power the dialogue and interrogation systems of its robotic characters. During the Debrief Session, an integrated model generates text responses based on your performance metrics in the preceding tasks. This technology is used to create dynamic, unscripted confrontations where the machines analyze your behavior and react to your input in real time.

The game generates text-based dialogue during the social deduction phase. This content is created in real time using your performance data (movement patterns, task efficiency, and error logs). This process requires an active internet connection to communicate with our cloud hosted AI systems. We have implemented guardrails to ensure the AI remains within the thematic boundaries of the game.

To maintain high quality interactions and manage operational costs, gameplay is limited to 25 games per day per user. This ensures that our cloud-based AI systems remain available and responsive for all players.
