About This Content

Upon the initial opening of the reserves, there were 10 huntable animal species between Layton Lake District and Hirschfelden Hunting Reserve, an additional 4 in Medved-Taiga National Park, 7 in Vurhonga Savanna, and 6 in Parque Fernando. Since then, the reserves have, between them, received 4 new species, including the Gemsbok, Canada Goose and more. The ecosystems change, as new species emerge...

Lion:

As Vurhonga Savanna continues to thrive, Grandfather Njabulo has decided that it is time to reintroduce the largest native carnivore and King of the Beasts - the Lion. Embodying the symbols of royalty and poise in human culture around the world, the Lion is the second-largest of the cats, surpassed only by the tiger. With a muscular and deep chest, the density of their muscles severely complicates shot placement and penetration during a hunt. The lions of Vurhonga Savanna are in their prime and will not take kindly to trespassers on their territory. As a hunter, remain steadfast in your resolve, and keep your wits about you as you venture into the wild to hunt the King of the Jungle.

Surviving the King of the Jungle:

Lions prefer to attack targets from behind, going for the neck for a quick kill. They grow more confident around smaller targets and react fiercely to sudden movements. The lions of Vurhonga aren’t maneaters, but will attack humans that they deem invade their territory. They have, however, been known to ignore people who keep some distance. Be mindful of your movements when coming face-to-face with one of these majestic beasts, as one wrong step could be your last...

Senses and Interspecies Relations:

The Lion is known as an apex predator for a reason. Sporting not only an impressively wide field of view with keen movement detection, they also have an amazing sense of smell and sharp hearing. Catching these majestic animals unaware is no small feat.

Variations:

Standing tall at over a meter in height, the Lions of Vurhonga Savanna are said to have 5 different fur variations. While the most common ones have the standard beige fur, a few lucky hunters have managed to spot Lions with more unique color variations. The question is this: are you skilled enough to hunt one down?
