《蟲潮》是一款俯視視角的射擊類遊戲，特點在於玩家需要對抗數量龐大的蟲群，並且在無邊界的地圖中自由地探索、收集資料，來升級機型與武器。
新版本可以切換機甲模式，機甲裝備大範圍的近戰武器和重型加特林機槍
鍵盤控制移動，並使用滑鼠進行射擊/近戰，玩家可以攜帶一種主武器和一種副武器進行戰鬥
遊戲中所有升級項目都是沒有等級上限的，只要資源足夠，就能一直不斷進行升級。


遊戲背景介紹：

這顆星球只剩下你一個人，還有不計其數的蟲子。就在幾年前，探測器在浩瀚的宇宙中發現了這顆星球，雖然是顆荒蕪的沙漠星球，但在星球表面卻存在著很多似乎不屬於這裡的稀有礦物，這些礦物蘊含極高的能量，人們因而開始在這顆星球建造開採基地，來挖掘這些價值不斐的礦物，直到有一天，地底傳出了嚇人的咆嘯聲，隨後便爬出了數量驚人的外星生物，稱之為“血蟲”，之後了解到這種礦物，實際上是由血蟲的高濃度血液凝結而成的血晶！看來，我們的大型礦車驚醒了這些沉睡在地下的生物，牠們向我們展開猛烈地報復，幾乎摧毀了我們所有開採的基地和設備。而你身為一個沒有來得及撤退的倒楣鬼，想盡辦法在這地獄生存下去，安全撤離，如果可以的話，毀滅這裡、消除禍根！祝你好運！
