  • Fixed main menu lockup for Windows 8.1 users.

  • Bots now use RPGs properly, taking them out when they see multiple human targets.

  • Added more bots with RPGs into Cooperative modes.

  • Bots now respond to nearby bullet impacts, so you can no longer shoot right next to them without getting their attention.

  • Bots now investigate more intelligently, a little bit less predictably.

  • Bots now hang back to defend objective areas instead of always investigating.

  • Reduced size of blood impact particle.

  • Hunt: Improved bot awareness and response to destroyed cache.

We have found a fix for the main menu freezing. We will eventually be releasing a patch that includes a fix for it. In the meantime, you can use the -nominidumps game parameter.

We believe the freeze is related to our new crash dump handler that uploads crash information to our servers. Doing the above will disable the crash handler, and prevent the freeze.

If the issue persists after doing the above, please let us know.

We are releasing a hot fix today to deal with some unexpected issues that came up with the last update. We have fixed a bunch of the more widespread issues with the patch, and are now focusing on resolving the issue some people are having with locking up in the main menu.

We wanted to get these changes out to you guys and let you know we are working on a fix for that too, and will release a hot fix for it as soon as it’s taken care of. If you are experiencing the issue, please help us debug it by posting additional information at this forum post.

In this patch we have also addressed a lot of the feedback we have received with regards to the AI difficulty. We look forward to getting feedback on these changes from more people, and are confident that players will notice a significant improvement in how the AI behave. They still sometimes see through objects in the world, however that’s the next thing our team will spend some time focusing on fixing with the AI in the game. We are also working out a better system for how the AI handle RPGs and will bring them back accordingly.

  • Fixed common client crash relating to the firemode display.
  • Fixed server-side crash relating to the map voting system.
  • Fixed a server-side crash in stats system.
  • Fixed crash when an explosive from a disconnected player would be part of a chain explosion.
  • Fixed UI crash when the page up or down keys were pressed on some UI elements.
  • Fixed crash relating to global ban system.
  • Fixed crash relating to Steam tagging system after changing the level.
  • Graphics options menu will now behave correctly after pressing “Back” without applying a change.
  • Key bindings menu will now correctly apply changes when you exit the menu without pressing “Back” at the bottom of the bindings menu.

User Experience Improvements
  • The user is now presented with a message if they could not connect to a server due to version mismatch.
  • Vote options for bot count in Checkpoint have been tweaked to allow for a higher number of bots (added an option for 20 bots per objective).

Gameplay Improvements
  • Coop: Tweaks to bot vision, suppression and aiming.
  • Coop: Improved collision meshes for the reeds and cannabis plants on Panj to prevent bots from spotting players through them.
  • Hunt: Improved bot cache destruction response. Now they will come investigate from far away if they see the explosion.
  • Checkpoint: Increased the number of bots by default.
  • Exhausting grenades or RPGs will now adjust your weight correctly.
  • Doubled the maximum number of ammo types for theater modders.

Community Announcements - JBlum
Today we are releasing an update to resolve some server-side crashing issues, gameplay balance tweaks, and map improvements.

The stats server is now back online after some unexpected downtime yesterday and part of today. Thanks for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue.

Servers are still updating, so if you get a version mismatch, try another server that has players on it.

Full changelist below:

- Updated PVP maps: District, Market, Panj, Revolt and Sinjar
- Updated Coop maps: Contact (Hunt) and Panj (Hunt)

- Insurgent Light Armor now costs 2 supply instead of 1.
- Now players can only carry 1 C4 even if they have a chest carrier.
- RPG and AT4 weigh less and now cost 5 supply instead of 6.

- Added anti-spam measures against radial commands.
- Magazine and fire mode information is no longer constantly displayed.

- Reduced AI field of view so they don’t see players at longer ranges as easily.
- Increased default attack delay at longer ranges for AI.
- Reduced chances that bots will suppress players. They must see them for longer, and be within the desired attack range in order to suppress a player behind cover.

- Stats authentication has been throttled to 3 attempts per map with 15 seconds between each attempt, to hopefully reduce cases of game servers not communicating with our stats backend.
- Authentication state is now checked for server ‘stats’ tag.
- Added server-side “ins_stats_status” command to print helpful information about the current stats connection.

- Fixed a server crash related to the AI investigation state where it was eating up too much memory.
- Fixed auto-upload of crash dumps for dedicated servers
- Potential fix for Main Menu not always updating in-game.
- Fixed Mk4 scope alignment on M14.
- More Panj optimization.
- Fixed Panj (Hunt) navigation mesh.
- Fixed not able to capture push A in Market when player is in prone position inside the black hawk.
- Potential fix for CRopeManager console spam in Market.

We've just pushed a build that will (hopefully) address issues with the statistics system for Linux servers. There's also a new 'stats' tag that you can enter into the server browser to ensure you are collecting stats. Also, your name in the Leaderboard will remain visible.

Other changes include updated nav mesh for Market and Buhriz to improve bot navigation, and fixed small issues in Panj and updated its nav mesh. HUD icons viewed through sights are improved.

We wanted to get out a new patch as soon as possible to address the stats issues many people have reported. Keep up the feedback, thanks!

Secondly, a big milestone reached today was hitting the #1 slot on the Top Sellers list! To us, it's like being a number one song on the Billboard charts, or having a book be at the top of the New York Times list. When we launched in January, we only hit #3 (since Rust and DayZ had recently also released).

Thanks to everyone who bought the game after trying it out. There were over 200,000 unique players during the weekend! The reviews continue to be overwhelmingly positive. It's great to know our hard work over several years is worthwhile.

We surpassed 10,000 concurrent players this afternoon - a milestone we were hoping to hit with this free weekend! Thanks to everyone who has played so far! It's been a tremendous success so far.

Starting at 2:30pm EST we are livestreaming on our official Twitch.tv channel

Special guests include Thom Clancy (yup, offspring of the famous author, and a game developer in his own right), AlabasterSlim and Bluedrake42.

We just released a patch to address some issues from the last update. Changes include:

New Features

  • Basic implementation of tiers, ranks and leaderboards for matchmaking-enabled servers.
  • Added Practice Mode back into the game, for practicing multiplayer game modes against bots. The mode can be accessed from the Training section.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Updated Maps: Panj, Uprising and Buhriz.
  • Fixed M14 and FAL bipod recoil.
  • FAL now costs 3 supply instead of 2.
  • UMP now costs 2 supply instead of 3.
  • Adjusted barrel lengths of weapons so that the weapon collision system is a little bit less sensitive.
  • HUD icons now show in their proper location when optics are being used.

User Experience Improvements

  • Fixed non-widescreen resolutions in Main Menu.
  • Removed Peak Coop from “allowed_maps” in Matchmaking. Should prevent coop servers that fail to load a mapcycle from allowing Peak Coop in the map vote and causing a server crash if voted for.
  • Player no longer says “Changing Mags” when reloading the M203 or GP25 underbarrel grenade launchers.
  • Game settings filters now have a “don’t care” option if you don’t care whether it’s on or off.

New World Interactive (NWI) is excited to announce today that it will be participating in a Free Weekend event on Steam from August 7th until August 11th. The game will be available to play for free all weekend, during which time the game will be available for purchase at a deep discount sale of 50% off, or $7.49.

In anticipation of the event that will bring a substantial amount of attention to the Insurgency franchise, NWI has released a new free DLC for the grit shooter. Titled Hunt, the content update features the thrilling new Hunt cooperative game mode, where players stealthily conduct night raids on Insurgent hideouts.

“We see Insurgency as a constant work in progress. Our utilization of ‘early access’ and our subsequent commitment to releasing free DLC demonstrates this. Since release, we have added five new maps to the game and several new weapons and optics,” recalls Jeremy Blum, Founder and Game Director at NWI.

“In conjunction with these substantial content additions we have worked very closely with our community to refine gameplay mechanics and address legitimate concerns. We are excited to release our stats framework today, which is now collecting data. We will soon unleash our ranking and tier systems to our community, which is something they have been requesting for quite a long time. It is currently in the final stages of testing before release.”

Insurgency uses a rank system that allows players to level up as they gain points in the game, which can be earned most effectively by playing the objective and working with your team. In addition to receiving a rank, players will also get put into one of three different tiers depending on their percentile amongst all Insurgency players around the globe. The top 33% of players are in the ‘Warlord’ (Gold) tier, the middle 33% in the ‘Veteran’ (Silver) tier, and the lower 33% in the ‘Grunt’ (Bronze) tier.

“The addition of stats and ranking will be the first step in bolstering our support for the community over the longer term. We know how much potential we have as a competitive game and are solidifying that foundation one step at a time,” explained Andrew Spearin, Insurgency’s Creative Director.

“Although the game may be considered a ‘finished’ product, we are constantly evolving our vision and looking forward to growing in the years to come. We have ‘next-gen’ and console ambitions. Whether or not we stay on the same engine, we will see, but one thing we know is this is just the beginning,” Blum disclosed.

The Hunt content update released today also includes two new multiplayer maps, six new cooperative maps, updated existing maps, underbarrel grenade & smoke launchers, a new weapon optic, gameplay improvements, server optimizations and much more.

Overview of Hunt content update features:

  • New Hunt game mode (cooperative) where you must eliminate all enemies and caches in the area. This game mode requires extreme stealth and coordination as you only have one life.
  • New statistic tracking framework.
  • New Main Menu with Development News and Steam Friends List.
  • New multiplayer maps: Panj and Uprising
  • New cooperative maps: District (Hunt), Heights (Hunt), Ministry (Hunt), Panj (Hunt), Uprising (Hunt) and Contact (Hunt).
  • Updated multiplayer map: Market.
  • Added underbarrel grenade and smoke launchers: M-203 for Security and GP-25 for Insurgents.
  • Added non-zoom red dot optic for Security team.
  • New first person weapon collision system.
  • Overhauled visual FX.

The most significant update to Insurgency since “Molotov Spring” is now available for all players. “Hunt” sees the return of the cooperative game mode of the same name - a challenging one-life mode where you will need to eliminate all enemy while locating and destroying a weapons cache. Supported maps include District, Ministry, and Heights, all with darker lighting and atmosphere to heighten the suspense.

A brand new map - Panj - is also introduced to the game. Inspired by the rural southern provinces of Afghanistan, this map is designed from the ground up to support a balanced and open layout for Skirmish, Firefight, Occupy, and Push modes.

Our most popular game mode Push also has a new twist. If the attackers successfully secure Objective Charlie, they have an opportunity to continue their momentum and destroy the enemy weapons cache. The defenders must make a very intense last stand with only one life.

A new grenade launcher is also implemented for both teams. Demolitions class for Security have access to an M203 with the M16, while Insurgent Striker and Sapper classes have the GP25 for the AKMS. Both high explosive and smoke rounds are available for these weapons that introduce a new threat and dynamic to the game. Additional classes have access to the grenade launchers for using smoke only.

Other weapon changes include: the addition of a 1x Aimpoint sight for Security; M14 EBR has a bipod upgrade; a weight limit that players can’t exceed when choosing supply; and balancing of supply point cost for some kit items.

We’ve also provided various tweaks, bug fixes, and performance optimizations. Today’s release is phase one of the update, and another update will be released in two days with even more content and features.
