Steam Big Picture

About This Game

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem lets you race and battle heavily-modified vehicles through numerous breathtaking tracks and lay waste to other racers in over-the-top vehicular mayhem. You can use special vehicle abilities to cause spectacular destruction to enemy cars as you fight and speed to victory. You’ll experience remarkable speeds, hilarious and violent weapons, reinforced vehicles and various exhilarating tracks.
The game offers various intense race modes to allow you to showcase both your driving and battling skills. PAM features an accessible physics-based driving model that allows you to sense the immense speed of all the post apocalyptic vehicles as well as feel every bone-jarring impact from both weapons and the tracks. Play single-player or battle up to five friends in online multiplayer mode.

Key Features:

  • Vehicles – PAM offers numerous post apocalyptic vehicles. All the Vehicles are heavily-modified and extremely menacing. All Vehicles are heavy-duty, reinforced and are able to take and give a lot abuse. The vehicles all look like they can quickly and easily travel over the newly scorched wasteland while effortlessly smashing other vehicle along the way.
  • Weapons – All of the vehicles have three unique and powerful abilities that they can use to severely damage opposition vehicles: one front attack, a side attack and a rear attack. A Player can receive these special abilities by picking up Special Ability Barrels that are placed throughout all of the tracks. When a vehicle runs over a Special Ability Barrel, the vehicle will gain that specific ability and the Player will be able to use it whenever they prefer.
  • Multiplayer – Intense Online Multiplayer racing for up to 6 players.

PRO:
+ Explosive lawn flamingoes
+ car combat games
+ Crazily modified cars to the death
+ Racing is not about finishing in first place
+ Leaderboard
+ Achievements
+ Multiplay

CONTRA:
- Only one game mode(aforementioned race)
- Extremely limited track selection
- Way overpriced
- Only six relatively different cars
- Three track options
- boring Singleplayer.
- ridiculously overpriced

CONCLUSION:
Post Apocalyptic Mayhem is cool, but way too short.

Have you ever watched the movie The Road Warrior? Have you ever watched the climatic, carnage-filled final chase scene and thought, "Man, I wish I could do that!"? Have you ever secretly fapped to that scene? If you answered yes to either or both of those last two questions, you might want to check out this game before seeking professional help.

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem is not a great racing game. Nor is it a great smah 'em up. But it is a decent hybrid of those two genres that provides some easy to get into and humorous fun (any game that has a metal version of 'Jingle Bells' in the set list gets a smile from me). There's a handful of cars, a handful of tracks and a couple of different play modes that provides some variety. That said, I don't think there's enough to justify the normal full price of the game. Pick it up on sale.

Post Apocalypic Mayhem (PAM for short) was a little surprise for me. I am normally not a fan of any kind of racing/ driving genre of game, and although PAM offers something a little different when compared to GT or NFS games, I still really enjoyed the driving aspect.

Granted you won't really be playing PAM for the driving though, it's about blowing up your oponents with the various amounts of weapons and power-ups you pick up on the track as you race.

The graphics are really nice, and the multiplayer is even better!

Another one that I can 100% recommend!

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem is one of those games where everything sounds good on paper, but the execution is lacking.

I guess this is supposed to be a racing game, but the arcade & challenge modes revolve around blowing up as many rivals as possible. This is accomplished by grabbing weapons off the track. Players can equip weapons for the front, sides, and rear. There's also a boost for catching up to the...mayhem. With a multitude of tracks and a variety of cars to drive, this game gets a pass in terms of content.

In practice though...ehhh...hmmm..oh uh well shoot. There's really no incentive for actually trying to race. The winner is determined solely by # of kills. At this point, why not just have a big arena? Make it a car combat game like the Twisted Metal series. Actually that wouldn't work because most of the weapons are designed for a racing game. It's a head-scratcher of the a design-decision, since it applies to the entirety of the single-player. There is a multiplayer mode for racing, but everyone is going to destroy each other anyway(or at least they would if anyone played this game online).

All that said, it isn't really a big deal. I'm just annoyed as hell because while playing the game I got hit with a nasty bug. At one point the game gets stuck on a loading screen. It stinks but it happens. I bring up the task manager, but the game pops right back up with its infinite loading. I try to bring up task manager again, and the loading screen comes right back. This freakin' game was trying to hold my computer hostage! I had to restart the PC just to get out of that mess. That little experience soured me on the entire game. As soon as everything was back to normal, I uninstalled this piece of crap with the quickness. I'm not saying it could happen to you, but what if it did? What...if...it...did?

I wasn't feelin' it anyway. The game isn't even compelling enough to grind out a few achievements for. The loading-screen bug was the 2x4 that broke the camel's back.

A game that should be more fun that it actually is unfortunately but for cheap it's a nice diversion for a bit. Still there are better combat racers out there so give it a try for cheap but you won't be missing out on anything special if you don't.

This is one of the games I play when I feel like having mindless fun. Post Apocalyptic Mayhem is a racing game, except honestly the racing doesn't matter. What really counts is the level of destruction you cause on the other drivers while racing.

The game comes with a variety of cars (ranging from an ice cream truck, police car, and more cynically, a mobile meth lab) that all play differently. Each car gets three weapons, which are activated by finding colored barrels.

Gameplay is pretty straightforward. Literally. You just drive down the track, collect weapons, and make it hell for the other drivers. If you can wreck another car, you get a point.

My big complaint about this is the DLC pack. The additional vehicles are included in the game already as opponents, the DLC simply unlocks them as playable. It is not particularly expensive, but it strikes me as somehow a part of the full game is removed and hidden behind a paywall.

This has been one of my first title when i took back my steam account after years of non-gaming.
With this small amount of dollars you will have a post apocalyptic scenario in which you will choose a car type to drive with.
Each car has its own weapons which can be used once they are picked up during the race from barrels. These stands on the roads and ach one has a different color (once for button blue-yellow-red-green,if you are using the xbox gamepad, and a grey one that randomly assign to your car a weapon).
Both offline (in which you can choose the game difficult) and the online are fun and the game is very entertaining with fluid animations.
The online is slightly different: here you can create a room, choosing what type of circuit you are going to do: laps type, means you need to end them for first (but still you can use weapons to crush opponents),the kill one, in which you will be ginven an amount of time in which who scores more death wins and more.
The only downside is that the online is pretty dead, sometimes you will wait hours to find someone, and probably he will leave during the laps if he sees that he is losing (morons are everywhere),problem is,that if he leaves and there arent 2 players running, the game will automatically ends bringing you back to the main menu.
If you are too good players will kick you once you go into a room, this happened me many times to ask myself what the heck was goin on that everyone was kicking me. People are always the same, or at least, regular players are, so they see that you always win, they wont let you match them. (morons again)
Beside this,is a great game and worth every dollar to spare some time on it.
Unluckily devs look too busy or just lazy to implement this game with more things, otherwise it would be really really beautiful with for ex customizable cars, weapons and tracks.

I really enjoy this game. Its pretty basic, drive around shoot other people and try to come in first.

But over all its really short, there is not many maps for it, it can get boring pretty quickly. If you can pick it up for under a buck, I say go for it, I paid a bit more for it. I still start it up now and then and go for around or 2, but other than that it doesn't see much action.

If a new map pack were released for say 5 bucks and it came with 15 to 20 maps I'd snap it up in a second without even waiting for it to go on sale, thats how much I like this game. But I doubt thats ever gonna happen.

Picked up this game for very cheap during a Steam sale. Suffice to say it is very bery boring, repetitive, and overly simplistic. I found the gameplay and racing to wear out after a few races. It had no replayability and the vehicles/abilities were uninteresting. I do not recommend getting this, even if it is a dollar.

I have played this game properly and got a few and ima just say this game is meh that is the best dscription i can give its not a bad game but its not a good game if you like games like mario kart with power ups and stuff but want it grittier then its good but it has a some flaws like the multiplayer is dead unless you can get a copy for some friends which is really fun but the single player is disgusting and way to easy the only way to get any diffuculty is to make it on hard difficulty but it has pretty good graphics and when u kill someone its satisfying and so is those DRIVE THROUGH THE DEBRIS!! moments so its like i said meh (sorry for bad english)

Personal Rating : "Worth trying"
Traditional Rating : 7/10

Not much to say about this game, it's good beat-em-up arcade racing game just like the old days. Well, hit the mystery boxes to get power-ups (booster, rocket, etc) and make your way trough.
Gameplay is so-so, you'll get bored eventually because lack of game mode and car choices.
Map, car design and special ability maybe the best shot that this game can give.

TL;DR
don't have friends? don't bother try this because like every other beat-em-up arcade racing, playing with AI sucks

I try and find the cheapest, wort games possible on steam and buy them for my friends. I saw this little gem and assumed it would fall into that category; I was wrong. PAM has a superb soundtrack for the type of game it is combined with chaotic multiplayer fun at an affordable price. However, if you don't have any friends to play with, I'd say pass.

A fun little hidden gem I recently came across. The controls need a bit of tweaking to get your perfect setup, but once you've done that you're ready to roll. Race and destroy your opponents before they destroy you. Its Road Warrior meets Death Race and I'm loving it. The downside is: there are only a limited selection of maps and vehicles so it can get quite lonely and sort of boring in singleplayer. But it's still a cool game.

This would be one of the better Early Access games on Steam, if it were Early Access. However, the devs somehow seem to think this game is "complete". It's not. The mechanics are there, but there's no real game yet. No goal. The cars really aren't balanced that well, the game mechanics could use a bit of fine tuning (it's really easy to just chain red barrels with a car that has a great rear attack). This game is a good start, but it's not polished enough for me to recommend it.

A proper racing game has working physics; they don't have to make sense but I think they just have to work properly. I didn't find proper physics in this pretty crappy racing game.
I found myself just bouncing constantly from walls and small obstacles and spinning out of control constantly. Even the CPU could barely handle the physics in the game. Every small car I've tried out in this game seems to be the most subjugated to its out-of-control physics whatwith them bouncing the hardest and flying the highest and just whatever else. This game is bad.

The only things actually cool here are the way the maps look and maybe the soundtrack.
