Reviews

“I completed the level and was reduced to disturbingly orgasmic cries. I haven’t felt as good with a videogame, in that direct physical way, for quite a while.”
Kieron Gillen, Rock, Paper, Shotgun
“I can't say enough good things about VVVVVV. It's Terry Cavanagh's best game to date, and one of the best platformers I've ever played. If you have any interest in challenging platformers whatsoever, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to pick up VVVVVV.”
10/10 – Anthony Burch, Destructoid
“...it would be wrong to let the sheer fiendishness of Cavanagh’s offering overwhelm any appreciation of the ceaseless elegance of the design.”
8/10 – EDGE

flip flip amirite dudes?
In all seriousness, this game is great. It's short, (I finished it in 4 hours!) but the game has a lot of replay value.
10/10.

Awesome game. Really enjoying it and a good challenge! The music is catchy too. An incredibly small download. Whats not to like?

One of those games where the frustration is fun instead of mind-numbing. Intensely challenging platformer, but you never really get the sense that it's *too* hard, just that you need to keep trying. As a result, it's super hard to put down. Even though it's single-player, everyone else in the room will be 100% invested in watching you play, so it can be a really fun game with friends as well. The game mechanics are pretty intuitive, and you can master them quickly, but there's still a lot of variation throughout the game so it doesn't become too repetitive. Add in the simple but pleasant graphics and the fantastic soundtrack, and you get a game that is definitely worth playing. Just be aware of flashing lights and animations, stuff like that. Turning off the moving background helps, but it's still probably not great if you suffer from epilepsy.

This game is simple but it executes its ideas perfectly. Fun puzzles that are never too frustrating, and a great soundtrack. It's a steal for 6 to 10 hours of retro awesomeness.

sensational soundtrack, superb stages, sweet satisfaction

SSSSSS

Of course it's frustrating, but that makes it even more rewarding once you finally beat the screen.

And even if you get stuck, just listen to the amazing tunes and enjoy it.

It's a win-win situation.

Played it. Beat it. Uninstalled it.

I don't need the high blood pressure these kind of games create.

It's good. But hide fragile objects before you start playing.

Awesome game!
The controls are a bit finicky though but the design and great soundtrack make up for it.
Don't go for the achievements if you want to stay sane.
Completed the game with 1357 deaths in 3:52:58

Great 2D platformer where instead of jumping you can switch gravity. The controls are not very smooth but everything else is great. While not very long (~4h), I managed to die 1126 times (I'm a huge n00b) but it was not a problem as waypoints were very frequent and in all the right spots, and with instant loading times. Even though I googled the solution to one of the puzzles much to my shame, the puzzles are very fun. Did I mention the soundtrack? No? Well, it's awesome (if you like chiptune)!

Rating: Lovvvvvved it!

Amazing oldschool game. It's fun, it has simple mechanics, but it's an hard game if you're aiming a 100% completition.
The OST is just perfect if you're into chiptune.
Really worth its price!

Are you a fellow Metroid fan suffering the drought of Nintendo's midlife crisis? Well. then buy this game immediately. The sense of exploration gives off the vibes of the first four Metroid games, while still feeling fresh and creative. The gravity reverse mechanic may sound like a lazy gimmick, but actually is put to great use throughout the game. It's a bit challenging, but it almost never feels unforgiving or unfair.

It's also really cheap. It's only a fraction of the price of buying your average retail game, so it's worth every penny. Well, granted, the game was gifted to me, but that's besides the point. Buy it.
