Reviews

“I completed the level and was reduced to disturbingly orgasmic cries. I haven’t felt as good with a videogame, in that direct physical way, for quite a while.”
Kieron Gillen, Rock, Paper, Shotgun
“I can't say enough good things about VVVVVV. It's Terry Cavanagh's best game to date, and one of the best platformers I've ever played. If you have any interest in challenging platformers whatsoever, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to pick up VVVVVV.”
10/10 – Anthony Burch, Destructoid
“...it would be wrong to let the sheer fiendishness of Cavanagh’s offering overwhelm any appreciation of the ceaseless elegance of the design.”
8/10 – EDGE

Are you a fellow Metroid fan suffering the drought of Nintendo's midlife crisis? Well. then buy this game immediately. The sense of exploration gives off the vibes of the first four Metroid games, while still feeling fresh and creative. The gravity reverse mechanic may sound like a lazy gimmick, but actually is put to great use throughout the game. It's a bit challenging, but it almost never feels unforgiving or unfair.

It's also really cheap. It's only a fraction of the price of buying your average retail game, so it's worth every penny. Well, granted, the game was gifted to me, but that's besides the point. Buy it.

The amount of time I have on my account does not represent the hours and hours I put into replaying the game and trying to get all the trinkets on the 3DS. I feel like that version was the more superior version. Whatever version you get, the developers of Binding of Issac: Rebirth did a good job making this game stand out of all of the other pixel indie games by going a whole two generations back. Gameplay is simple, the game main campaign shouldn't take more than 2 hours, but mastery of the game should take quite a while. Get it on salt, it's worth a dollar or two.

VVVVVV stands for Very Vamped Vial Valved Vague Vulture. Which means this game is very good, I think.

The retro style this game delivers is amazing. I highly recommend this game even though its only 5$, I would even say it could be worth a little more, but hey- 5$ is a good deal. I will warn you that this game tends to make people frustrated.

I liked the idea of the game and whole esthetic of it, but the gameplay just felt like I was save-stating my way through a game and really wasn't that enjoyable or rewarding.

VVVVVV is a big pixel, open world platformer in which you switch gravity instead of jumping. Its design and mechanics are simple. Its 'levels' are anything but.

You, Captain Viridian, have found yourself stranded in an unstable dimension along with your ship and its crew. The first problem? You're not all in the same place. You have to locate your ship and then find your crew - this requires finding (it's an open map) and progressing through the 'levels'. The levels all have slightly different mechanics, from static screens to constantly moving floors/ceilings. The platforms may disappear beneath your feet, make you bounce or switch gravity. :)

Its simple mechanics make VVVVVV easy to approach and get into, but do expect to be challenged at times! If you like a challenge, then I highly recommend picking this one up. It isn't a long game, but you unlock modes and trials along the way if you do want to come back for more. It's good for short sessions (or you could spend an hour or so 'doing things the hard way' like me...). It also has a stellar soundtrack - a perfect fit for the game. So, what are you waiting for? Pick it up and begin VVVVVV!

Played it. Beat it. Uninstalled it.

I don't need the high blood pressure these kind of games create.

It's good. But hide fragile objects before you start playing.

Awesome game!
The controls are a bit finicky though but the design and great soundtrack make up for it.
Don't go for the achievements if you want to stay sane.

Fun for the small amount of time played. I recommend buying it on sale for $2.49 USD. Good music, too!

Amazing oldschool game. It's fun, it has simple mechanics, but it's an hard game if you're aiming a 100% completition.
The OST is just perfect if you're into chiptune.
Really worth its price!
