What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“VR is the gaming worlds wild wild west. We want more VR content that is polished, full of content, and creative. We want to make sure we do the medium justice, and have the time and space to speak with the community about what they love, what they hate, what they want, and what they need from their virtual gaming experience in Paperville.

By launching in Early Access, we are giving ourselves the time to ensure that what we deliver with each content roll-out is high quality, replayable, exciting, and genuine fun. We'll have the room to move and adjust per our audience and their feedback, and we can't wait to take the journey with you. We didn't want to lock ourselves down to a full release and potentially miss out on having the time to implement an awesome feature, mode, or experience that we may otherwise not have prepared our scope for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“With time for bugtesting and tweaking, we plan to release the game fully early next year with all of the additional content in place.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will be a fully fleshed realization of our Early Access version. We have road-mapped the rest of our content out to be released periodically (outside of normal bug fix patches and so forth) and will include further missions, events, and bonus content.

We plan to continue to add to the game beyond what we personally have planned, to hopefully find new and exciting ways for our community to have fun in VR.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Paperville Panic currently consists of three full missions, a comprehensive town to explore, as well as achievements to unlock.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“When all of the games content has been added and finalised, the price will increase slightly for full release. Throughout our early access period, we hope to take advantage of frequent discounts and sales bundles to give our early community the advantage of special pricing and feature access. All additional content will be added at no cost to the community, so if you pay for the game on first day of release, you will receive all additional Paperville content through to the full release period and in perpetuity.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will continue to be active and accessible on Twitter where we post daily (@Ultimerse, as well as on Facebook and Instagram), via email, in the Steam forums and on Reddit. We don't want anyone to hesitate to get in contact, and we aim to be as involved with our community as they will allow us to be.

We will continue to update our fortnightly dev blog as well as sharing it here for all to read and get to know both the team, the future plans, and what we're working on.

We want as much feedback as we can get, and we genuinely do want to hear it.”

“So what happens when the town of Paperville is in danger and no one else seems to have taken up the mantle of paper hero? Well, I guess it’s time to don your brightest underwear and grab some buckets because this town needs a hero!”
VR The Gamers

About This Game

Welcome to Paperville, Rookie! As the fire departments newest recruit, you're in for a sweet ride at your new employment. Cheque cashing, boot sorting, lunch stealing - after all, in a town made of arts and crafts, how often would there ever be a fire?

Paperville is proof that anyone has what it takes to be a hero, as long as safety and saving lives aren’t priorities. A tongue-in-cheek look into the world of firefighting, in a town filled with strange critters, odd personalities and secrets to discover.

Guided by a less-than-stellar fire department, you must help restore Paperville to it’s former papery glory. From clearing building fires, rescuing citizens from rubble, hacking through doors, to dealing with townsfolk and their personal issues, Rookie does it all.

Only you can be the one to save Paperville.
Well, someone else probably could, but you’re all they’ve got.

  • Explore the living, breathing town, from beach to balcony to bedroom, and get to know the people of Paperville.
  • Save the townspeople from imminent danger - and from themselves.
  • Atmospheric music helps set the scene as you traverse smokey spaces filled with fire.
  • Use a number of different weapons to tackle the problems in front of you.
  • Shoot, smash, pull, deduce, and lift your way through missions to find the solution and be the hero Paperville never deserved.
