About This Game

Men of War: Vietnam is a new game for the critically acclaimed series. The new, story-driven campaign lets you taste the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in 1968. The US campaign focuses on a team of elite special ops soldiers, and each one of them has a personality.
The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machine-gunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops. The North Vietnam campaign tells the story of two Soviet military consultants and two soldiers of the North Vietnam Army who are the only survivors of an ambush prepared by the US troops. The task of getting back to the North Vietnam territory is a difficult one – they have no means of radio communication, no wheeled vehicles, and it’s too far to make it there on foot. On their way these survivors get involved in a chain of bloodbath engagements and find themselves in the dead center of the well-known Tet offensive.
Missions range from special operations (rescuing a shot-down pilot, escorting a reporter, etc.) to full scale battles.

Key Features

  • There are two sides in every story, so two new story-driven campaigns attempt to show the war from both sides.
  • Breathtaking missions including an ambush on the Ho Chi Minh trail, a game of cat and mouse in the Mekong Delta, raids into Cambodia and Laos, bridge defense during the Tet offensive and more.
  • New weapons and units: M-16, T-54, M-113, Patton III, M-60, AK-47, M-14, RPG-2, M-72 LAW, RPK and many more.
  • Multiplayer mode – co-op for up to 4 players.

Men of War is affected by the GameSpy shutdown on the 31st of May. You can continue to play the game through LAN, DirectIP and GameRanger.

A war adventure into the jungle that is magnified by the evocative setting. Unfortunately this new stand-alone expansion comes with graphical issues and lack of multiplayer changes. But the single player experience is good and the cooperative gameplay is a very nice add.

Very realistic. Nothing more amusing than sending a soldier crawling over a hill to retrive his helmet that got shot off. Fun game well worth checking out.

As a Fan of Men of war, I thought to buy this game and enjoy some multiplayer, but it seems to be pretty dead.

and as for the single player. it is alittle bit tricky for veteran players, but as i handed this to a "noob", he could not cach on. it was way too hard for him but after sowed him assault squad, he did ok on assault squad.

so in summery if you are a vet. to the men of war series the multiplayer is dissapointing at best. and for those new to the series i wold not reccomend (unless your looking to get your A** kicked)

For Those who will buy it. Good Luck.

Awesome game, have'nt ploughed the hours into this like other MOW titles. However that is not to say this game isn't just as good as it predecessors. I stalled from buying this game for such a long time due to negative reviews and people rating it as 'too' difficult.

That is part of the games attraction surely, something that presents itself as a challenge? Single player the game is great but multiplayer is where it shines. On comms with a mate (or mates) this game is just as good as the other MOW titles. infact I love the weapons on offer. So it is more unique and in a very politically sensitive backdrop.

I would recommend this game as it is very much in th eflavour of all other MOW games, expect the high detail, anticipate the challenge and also the beautiful levels of micro admin. These series of games offer something very unique and it should be experienced with good mates who you can trust to run through an op. Not some randoms who want to charge through it guns blazing. Digest the intel, scan the map and devise your path of action and you will be rewarded. Run in without covering your arcs and setting up fall back points for certain missions and you will fail miserably. MP is a must 4 of you working in unison is brilliant as you can set up multiple ambush points and often smash the enemy in one foul swoop with a well coordinated strike.

A great game, as the rest.
