Why Early Access?

“We created Piece of Cake studios to focus on co-op games only, so it was obvious that we would not finish Hacktag all alone in a dark corner, but we would do it with you, as a team.
Hacktag is an original concept with a challenging asymetrical gameplay which requires thorough testing and iteration. As big fans of the co-op genre ourselves, we really feel like there are not enough great co-op games where sharing the fun is just as important as the fun itself. Thinking outside of box while developing a game or prioritizing features can be challenging. Releasing Hacktag in Early Access will allow us to structure the final steps of production based on your feedback and priorities.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We don't want the early access to last forever. We are planning a 3 to 6 months early access period depending on the feedback and all the exciting propositions players will make.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our vision for the final version of the game is centered around these objectives in terms of content:
  • Fully accessible procedural generation of the levels. ( 3 types of missions into 3 environments)
  • More hacking and co-op mini-games.
  • New game modes (time-attack etc...)
  • Weekly challenges.
  • 9 stories for the corporations with unique NPCs for each player.
  • Unlockabke Customization elements for the hacker & agent.
  • Various types of guards and antiviruses.
  • New environments variety and special rooms.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of now, Hacktag is in a pretty advanced beta state.

Online and local multiplayer
You can already play online with a friend or locally with a good old-fashioned splitscreen mode. Hacktag already contains hours of co-op gameplay and many opportunities to yell at your partner.

Iterative procedural generation
Every level in Hacktag is procedurally generated. During the very first week of the early-access, there will be 9 levels of one mission type in 3 corporations environments. In order to tweak the generation, we will first release an update of the game with new levels on a weekly basis which will allow you to enjoy quality improvement and new gameplay situations. Then depending on your feedback, we will update the game to give you a full access to the infinity of levels granted by our procedural generation with 9 story campaigns.

Experience system and character customization
The experience system and all the passive and active skills you can unlock are already available although it might be tweaked and new skills may appear. Customization elements for your character is already available, but we will add many more unlockable options later on.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Thanks to our early adopters, Hacktag will launch at a price point of USD 14,99. The final release price will slightly increase as the initial content will be larger.”

Back in the game! 4 new maps available in patch 0.10.0f2 !

After a few days of holidays for some lucky team members and a week at Gamescom for the really lucky ones, we are back on track to deliver your weekly updates!

And since we haven't updated the game since 4 weeks now we're coming back with a ton of cool stuffs :

This week updates comes with FOUR NEW MAPS and many fixes and improvements.

One is set at C.L.A.W Media, two at Genethics and one at Lexyk. I personally am a big fan of this new missions, I must say. It offers some very cool and intense new situations where you and your partner really need to be in sync in hilarious - and yet hardcore - rooms. I hope you'll enjoy these as much as we do!

We just found out that Hacktag is part of the game selection at IndieCade 10th anniversary festival!

As I said in the introduction, part of the team went to Gamescom in Germany to showcase Hacktag with some exclusive content and gameplay features such as a new mission type, playable characters and some very cool co-op mini games.

New map and many bug fixes

Hello Hackers!

After a short break, we are back with one new LEXYK mission and a LOT of fixes for the 15 previous maps. The new map is already playable in the 3 difficulty levels and it will be always the case for each new levels starting from now.
Also, we are currently working on offering a lot of cool new gameplay features very soon so be prepared!

About This Game

Hacktag is a 2-player co-op stealth-game with an asymmetric gameplay.

Play as the stealth-agent on the field or as the Hacker, virtually infiltrated and cooperate to fulfil industrial espionage missions together to takedown corporations.

In 2029, in a parallel world, you are a mercenary who secretly accomplishes missions for corporations struggling for leadership. To succeed you will have to team-up by 2 and infiltrate corporations simultaneously in two ways:

  • As the stealth agent, infiltrating the level with an isometric 3d view and a fast infiltration gameplay with a rewarding arcade feeling.

  • Or as the hacker infiltrating virtually the same level with a holographic blueprint vision and moving on a virtual network to interact with the cameras, doors, phones or coffee machines…

The whole Hacktag experience is designed to make the players feel like they are spy or heist movie heroes.
  • Online and local multiplayer: play separately or share the same screen.
  • Original co-op mechanics and mini-games: deactivate alarms, unlock doors or jails together in stressful situation!
  • "Co-opetitive" gameplay: as mercenaries, your partner is also your best competitor!
