What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have opted to enter Early Access with Saurian as a part of our ultimate funding goal through our KickStarter campaign. Due to the generosity of our backers and fans, we have been able to develop Saurian to the point where we can openly present it to the public. That being said, Saurian still needs to be fully realized and Early Access can further help the game towards completion.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Saurian is planned to exit Early Access when we have finalized the implementation of the following features: full life stages and playability of the four original planned playable dinosaurs (Dakotaraptor, Pachycephalosaurus, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus), complete all planned AI animals and foliage species. We estimate this to take about two years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In addition to the aforementioned features; the process of implementing all KickStarter stretch goals will begin, which will include: Dynamic Seasons and Weather, Character Customization, Genetic Variant Skins, Post-Impact Survival Mode, two additional playable dinosaurs (Anzu and Ankylosaurus), Spectator Mode, Multiplayer, and VR support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Saurian's current Early Access features are: a fully realized game world featuring polished, final game assets; one dinosaur (Dakotaraptor), fully playable from hatchling to adult; a vibrant, functioning AI ecosystem; ongoing optimization efforts to ensure maximum access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have no plans to price Saurian differently after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe that community involvement is important, and plan to encourage feedback on in-game performance and gameplay features via our Steam forums and official Saurian Discord server.”

Patch 1.4.1896

Hi everyone,

At long last, we’ve released the Gilmore update for Saurian. We are very excited to introduce several new features to the game, in addition to many changes and fixes which can be read below. We recommend starting a new save, as loaded games from previous versions may not work correctly. As per usual, please report any bugs or feedback to us on our Steam discussion pages or our Discord.

We have also released Vol. I of Saurian’s soundtrack, which can be purchased through Steam or through Bandcamp. All Kickstarter backers who pledged for it will receive their copy shortly.

We apologize for the many delays, and thank you for sticking with us until we could release this patch. The last couple of months have been full of unforeseeable complications for our team, and we do not intend to regularly spend so long on updates in the future. We consider ourselves so lucky to have such a supporting and understanding community, and we will continue to do all that we can to validate and earn the trust you’ve put in us.

The Saurian team
