What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game in its current state offers a complete Rogue-lite experience with several hours of content for players. The game is stable, relatively polished and nearly bug free. We also believe our game works well on the Early Access format, as it allows us to update and release new content as it is completed, while receiving constant feedback from players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to continue development in Early Access for 3-6 months, until all current planned content is finished and the game meets our personal standards of stability, optimization, and overall quality.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will expand on the current build in almost every way. While all core systems and the main gameplay loop are in place, the game’s content will be greatly expanded upon. We plan to add more dungeons for players to explore, new enemies to fight and bosses to overcome. With each new dungeon ‘track’ (set of related dungeons) we will release new weapons and armor for players to collect and use as they fight through new content. The player’s story and the world of Rogues Like Us will also be revealed and expanded through collections of journal entries and manuscripts that players can find as they explore, as well as cut scenes and interactions with the other rogues in the hub. The full OST will also be completed by release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The procedural dungeon system creates five consecutive dungeons each with their own unique layouts, enemy groups, treasure, and boss battles. Between dungeon runs players will return to a central hub where they can unlock loot they earn, trade out weapons and armor from their collection, and empower their weapons with magical runes to help them on their future dungeon runs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to launch Early Access at a reduced price for the first several weeks. While we have full confidence in the current build of the game, it is (obviously) not the complete experience that we are basing our launch price on. For that reason, we think it is more than fair to give our early adopters a discounted price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our main goal and reason behind launching Rogues Like Us in Early Access is to find our most dedicated fans to help us find a perfect balance of challenging but rewarding gameplay. We will always do our best to communicate with the community via our social channels, and update the game itself with biweekly to monthly content patches.”

We’ve recently been overhauling the systems behind how our audio works, in the future this will make audio work easier to do. But for now we have also lost some effects that we’ll need to reimplement in the future. This may also introduce some general audio quirks to the game. However we didn’t want a few small hiccups to delay what we think is a pretty substantial update that improves the game dramatically.
  • Improved weapon swing sounds and timing
  • Slimes now make a gooey sound when hit

Bug Fixes
  • Roller enemies no longer leave an invisible hitbox where they died
  • Some UI tweaks and fixes
