Save / export fix + lowpoly basics

Thanks for your patience. We've had a week to foxus on scene / project saving and export bugs, as well as some more low poly basics. Both beta and mainbranch have been updated. Our emphasis has been to avoid lost work. Details below.

Export / save bugfixes and general features:

  • Saving to a single projectfile (.KOP-format). Kodon-file and multiple file system discontinued.
  • Saving now also saves low poly objects.
  • Import / export support for KOB-files (the old voxelfiles) to be able to load from old projects
  • New displaymodes
  • Memory-leak and memory usage fixes
  • Ability to export visible objects as OBJ.
  • Fix on multiobject .OBJ-export to 3DS Max.
  • Fix on OBJ-orientation issues.

Note: There are some issues remaining where OBJs in some cases end up as corrupt. Just hold on to your project file (KOP) and we will give you a fix on this very soon.

Lowpoly-features:

  • Extrude triangles
  • Tool to split lines.
  • Facet-paint and spraypaint.
  • Wireframe options.
  • Various bugfixes.

Upcoming features will be further bugfixes and more lowpoly features until we go back to general sculpting.

More versions incoming. Hold tight!

There will be several main versions in the coming weeks, with both features and bugfixes.

First off, we're working on save / export issues and expanding lowpoly functionality.

The first version you will see will split save and export up into two separate functions (as usual in media editing software):

1) Save as a "project-save" that reliably saves your entire project (including lowpoly) into a single Kodon-specific file.

2) Export will then be a separate per object function with various options.

You will also see an upgrade of lowpoly functionality with paint, weld, possibly some select tools. As mentioned, lowpoly will also be saveable with the rest of the project.

After we cleaned up save and lowpoly we'll jump back to fixing the voxel sculpting tools.

About This Software

Kodon is a virtual sculpting tool under development (Early Access - so far 70% complete). We are offering Kodon at a lower price before it's done to get in contact with enthusiasts and to get some monetary support to help us develop it.

Kodon aims to become a semi-pro / pro tool that can compete with the existing desktop alternatives for model creation.

When Kodon is ready for release, it should be an immersive VR experience for people without any art skills, and a powerful productivity tool for people with art skills who want to create or edit 3D models.

Kodon will also have a desktop mode allowing you to easily switch between desktop and VR editing.
