“A monster of a sequel.”
90/100 – Game Informer

About This Game

In Dead Space™ 2, you join Isaac Clarke, the Systems Engineer from Dead Space, as he wakes up three years after the horrific events on the USG Ishimura. The Ishimura was a Planetcracker-class starship besieged by grotesque reanimations of its dead crew, known as “Necromorphs.”

After unearthing a strange artifact known as the Marker, Isaac finds himself on the Sprawl, a giant space station in orbit around Saturn. Unable to remember how he got here and plagued with demented visions of his dead girlfriend Nicole, he must survive another nightmarish outbreak of Necromorphs as he fights his way towards an answer he hopes will end all the chaos.

Key Features:

  • Tear through space with full 360 degree movement.
  • Wield a set of devastating tools to bring the terror to space. Impale Necromorphs into the walls with the Javelin, use improved telekinesis to turn limbs into deadly weapons, plant powerful dismembering trip mines, or create a hull-breach to suck a group of monsters out into space.
  • Fire up Isaac’s suit boosters to rocket around in zero gravity like never before. Explore the depths of the Sprawl and encounter new weightless combat and physics-based puzzles with full 360⁰ movement.

Bite Size Review - Dead Space 2 (hey that ryhmes!)

The Good:
+Graphics
+Weapon Options
+Enemy Variety
+Level Design and Exploration
+Gameplay is very satisfying
+Type of game you want to play until the very end

The Bad:
-Not Really Scarey after the first 20 minutes
-Game is more action oriented than survival Horror
-Story is nothing special (alien artifact turns everyone except you into a monster)
-Characters other than you are not memorable
-Not a whole lot of replay value

The Verdict:

I have been a big fan of the Dead Space series and have really enjoyed it since the first one. This game improves on the first one in a good amount of ways - introducing more enemy types and more gun types to outfit Izac with. I will say this though, this game is not scarey, not at all. Also the story, is really there to just break up the combat a bit, none of the characters or story elements are that vital to the enjoyment of this game.

This game in my mind is what a modern day DOOM should be. Really. It's feels very much like that and if you go into the game with the mindset of this being a slow paced, thinking-man's DOOM, you can really have a fun time with it.

Better controls and better graphics than in the original. A step up in regards of action, but a step down in regards of horror. But I understand, if you played the original, you'll probably know what you're getting into with this one and you won't be scared. Isn't that the fate of any monster horror game? The first game gives you the dread of the unknown, but the second game cannot do that so it relies on action. No wonder that Dead Space 3 went all out on the action and left behind the horror. But bottom line is that Dead Space 2 (as well as the original) is a must-have game for your Steam games library! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725534955 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=714059166

the game tought me to be paranoid and shoot everything, dead bodies, random bodies, anything that moves, that thing you just killed but need to be sure it is dead, and end it off by scaring you with a very disturbing moment near the end...10/10 would curb stomp everything again

Well, I just finished Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 in a row on normal. Considering the lack of time I have between work and family, I must say I am surprised.

Played tons of games in the last 30y of gamings ( started with c64) and so I can be picky. I knew Dead Space were good games but I don't usually like horror games but maybe I should revisit this statement as I really enjoyed the ride.

Both games are engaging, both in story and gameplay. It's tense, it's well balanced from beginning to end and if you don't read any spoiler, it feels like a journey.

I do obviously recommend to buy and if you like the FPS where you feel you are engaged like you life depends on it with interesting weapon mechatic, then you'll love this game. The loot & character progression is simple but it works, The maps level are good and the overall fun factor is great. you just have to hide it from your wife and kids if you know what I mean :)

glad I finally decided to give the franchise a try ( summer sale)

What I liked:
  • Bringing back the Dead Space with more weapons( love the javelin and contact weapon, OMG so good)
  • More suit variety
  • New enemies that offer variety, with returning ones as well
  • No terrible PC port like the first game
  • It's the most similar to the first game, but way better in every single respect( unlike the 3rd game)
What You Need to Know:
  • No issues like the first one, controller works out the gate, and no 30 fps lock
  • I beat the game quicker than most people on their first time would( Already played the game on console)
  • No one plays the multiplayer, so don't get it for that. Plus who really gets this game for the online feature
  • On first launch, it wants to login with your EA account. I did, but don't know what singleplayer things you would miss out on if you don't use it. Think it's for the online feature
  • Does have the hardcore difficulty which is a really nice challenge for the "hardcore" fans, limited save counts :O

Compared to the original:
  • More weapons and new special effects when upgraded enough
  • Zero G is way more awesome now, you can move in 3D space, bringin in new challenges and fun
  • Issac does talk, so with that is more cutscenes, but overall it didn't bother me too much
  • No map, instead the stations are found the same way as the objective
  • Final Boss fight was not as cool as or hard as the first game
  • You can respec your power nodes for whatever reason now
My Score:
A+

Price:$5
Completed in:8 hours( This is alot faster than new players would get)

Games similar:
  • Dead Space 1 only
  • Doom 3

I enjoy stumpping those bodies. Splash sounds and cutting limbs stirred me up and then I had an ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ( Seriously ? )

Currently playing my first walkthrough on Zealot difficulty.

Dead Space 2 is really good game, but, you know, nothing is terrifying any more if you can fight back.

As a console peasant I really enjoyed this game. Just replaying it brings back memories. If you're looking for a true horror game this is it. Why? Simply because you aren't left with nothing to defend yourself where you're forced to run. You have to fight your fears and fight your way through hordes of necromorphs. There's no running alternative in this game. No fight or flight option, and that's when we truly panick. Your hands are shaking with each new necromorph that you approach, trying to conserve ammo, trying to keep your will to fight because you know when you have no ammo it's over. This game pits you against monsters you wish you could run from and spam with bullets, but you have to play smart... or you're dead. The true suspense is when it's all died down, but you don't know what vent the next necromorph can come from so you wait for the inevitable.
