"Tactical RPG fun with a twisted sense of humour. Save the world with an emo, a narcisist, assorted bimbos and an astronaut. A good game for TRPG newbies"

“This game is an explosion of humor with a knowing wink in all the right places.”
“The humor is quite refreshing in this normally dead-serious fantasy and tactic genre, and the sophisticated quick combat scenarios are without a doubt sublime.”

  • Chefões enormes, bem bravos e altamente detalhados

This game has plenty about it to love. I can tell that Silent Dreams really put a lot of care into developing this game. It is a humorous game for sure. The characters personalities are both realistic and mildly absurd at the same time. The art style may be somewhat cutesy in places but the backgrounds really set the apropriate moods for each stage. I thought that the artwork was truly beautiful. It may not be the most challenging game in the world but some parts were hard enough to take multiple trys, revising my strategy each time. The story was like a fractured fairy tale with dark humor that made the game a reason I will always be a fan of the people at Silent Dreams.

So far this game has proved to be a fun experience even with the simplistic style. The game is pretty funny at times and even smartly gives refences to other RPG style games. One I noticed was Shining Force. However sometimes the game is a little too predictable when it comes to the jokes, it's very cliche' and sometimes tries a little too hard. Now onto the gameplay, I have to say I quite like the style of gameplay however I sometimes find myself getting mad at the flow of the movement, there are quite a lot of invisible walls that could easily be walked on yet the game ignores. I noticed this greatly on a beautifully designed level which had a bridge connect to an island with a house on, I was hoping they'd hidden a chest on there but when you get to the bridge you can't walk across it. This of course is only a minor fault and more one of my irks with the game. I've also encoutered several bugs on the level I described with the bridge. One of them was a bug with the Angel character who was stuck in the same place throughout all the fights and exploration of the map. Of course this was a huge pain since she's the only healer so I instead had to use up most of my potions. On the same level as I got to the prison tower one of the female chocobirds glitched and repeatedly attacked all of my characters even after my main hero died. This happened twice but luckily the game didn't make me restart the level and instead fixed itself.
Now onto the story. I have to say the story is quite enjoyable so far however some of the characters can be a bit unlikable, for example the maidens who constantly try to get the attention of Holy. I know they're going for the whole typical female stereotype within games but it can get a bit tiresome and it can be incredibly annoying in combat (If you decide to play the game you'll see what I mean). However where there are a few downs there are ups, the rest of the characters I've encountered so far are very enjoyable in particular Drake and Holy who you start the game with. They are very much opposites. Drake is represented as a depressed emo type who doesn't have a lot of confidence whereas Holy is represented as a strong blonde hero who's sometimes vain. I could write more on the story but I've wrote enough already.

Overall in my opinion this is a brilliant game for those people who love RPG style games with a hint of comedy. If you're not a fan of games putting obsticals in places where you could roam then this game will probably annoy you. You may find the combat later on in the game irksome as well as you find more characters as they have certain 'limit breaks' that can hurt people in your team and sometimes kill them. Don't expect anything too great since this is made by an indie team but it will be enjoyable none-the-less. Also the price is good for what's in the game so even if you're a little unsure it won't be too much to waste or you could just wait till the sale. Hope my review was useful.

I wanted so much to like this game, especially considering the current drought of turn-based tactical RPGs but ultimately, its flaws outweigh any real enjoyment. The humour is... bizarre, and divisive -- you'll love it or hate it. The paper-thin and linear plot ambles around like it doesn't know what to do, and the combat never feels truly satisfying. If you're a fan of tactical RPGs, you're better off looking elsewhere.
