About the Game

Large-scale battles have become a vestige of the past, depleting resources of conflicting parties. Settled space, where welfare and order had reigned, has become a cemetery for dead ships which is flooded with pirates and adventurists. Complete impunity, black market flourishing where gun and tech trade is on the move, arbitrariness and anarchy – the Galaxy has become a real dangerous place. Events in the Universe and its habitant’s destiny are completely up to player’s choice and tactical decisions.
Star Wolves 3: Civil War is a sequel to the popular real time strategy with RPG elements. Original large-scale scenario, closely tied with the first part of intergalactic epic helps the player influence the ongoing events and foreordain one of many endings. Free roam, free mission selection, free team forming – the world of Star Wolves waits for its heroes.
  • Huge world: 110 highly detailed star systems in different parts of the Galaxy.
  • Non-linear story: several endings and additional quests create a complete game universe.
  • New characters and skills: form up a team of your dream; teach your companions new skills.
  • New participant in the intergalactic conflict: the Space Fleet of a New Empire, equipped with its own spaceships.
  • A number of new base ships and fighters with unique specifications and original weapon types and equipment.

It has it's moments, but for the most part it's just frustrating.

Poor scripting, buggy encounters. There is no autosave worth mentioning (it happens once in a blue moon) so you can often lose hours of play if you forget to save often and in different slots.

The worst part though is the scripts are on such tight rails that even the slightest deviation means game over as your mothership inexplicably explodes.

In short: Lots of potential, mostly wasted. A frustrating and disappointing experience.

Has BG/ BG2 pause system , but in space! Mothership acts as floating base for up to 6 fighters. ♥♥♥♥loads of tech and pilot RPG elements. Kinda buggy save alot, lots of text so you may have to read, short story. As a saving grace it has a huge solor system with lots of factions and infighting.

This game is not free of bugs. I will be blunt to tell you it falls apart from time to time and requires save quit reloads sometimes. This does not mean the game is un-playable, far from it. Once you get the hang of the somewhat simple tactical conrols of the fighters this game is very fun. It resembles most 4x style 3d space strategy games like Homeworld. Plenty of free roaming or not if you choose. The story is hard to follow and is filled with translation gaps because it is a foreighn game. It still has many great qualities that make it really fun to deck out your crew with good ships and skills and huge space battles that you can find glitches and cracks to beat the odds, even outnumbered. It is a fun game to play if you like sandbox gameplay and need a side distration this is a hoot to play.

I was expecting a space sim like X3, where the learning curve is so deep, you'll spend 10-15 hours just learning how to play. Star Wolves 3 is more like a Bioware game, where there's a LOT of story.

I had a mission where I had to decide between delivering a spaceship to a science facility or saving a man's family from being blacklisted by the Empire. Oh, the spaceship I was delivering had a bomb stapped on it. But the man offered me a lot of money. The choices!

Average spaceship simulator but slowly on times. I prefer games like Wing Commander Privateer or FTL.
