What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo game developer, community support and feedback has a huge impact and means a lot to me! I believe Early Access is a great way to allow fans to play now while helping shape development. Your feedback will help me improve Final Days and make it a better game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I want to provide the best experience I can at full launch. So I will take the required time to consider and incorporate community feedback. This will play a large part in determining when Final Days does leave Early Access. But I expect that it will be in Early Access for approximately 6-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Please refer to the list of planned features in the main description below. This list is likely to change based on community feedback, but it should give a rough idea of what I want to deliver.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I encourage you to try the free demo so that you can see the current state yourself. But Final Days is currently quite playable even in its alpha state. The core mechanics are in place and the online multi-player functionality is working well. The main areas that are currently lacking are content, and the single player experience. But this will change over the duration of the Early Access period.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually raise the price as I deliver new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I encourage the community to share their feedback and suggestions with me. They can do this via the Steam forums, Twitter, e-mail, or even via the in-game feedback system. I want to know what you like, what you don't like, and what you'd like to see added or changed. I will strive to read and consider everything you post. Your feedback means a lot to me!”

Fire Update (v0.25)

The Final Days v0.25 "Fire Update" is now out!

Here's a summary of the main changes:
  • Added new "Hot Shot" ammo type which ignites enemies near the impact area and continues to apply additional damage over time while they are burning

  • Enemies and some objects will now briefly catch fire after taking explosive damage (this is a visual effect only, it does no extra damage)

  • There is now a short delay before barrels explode. Before they explode, they will catch fire giving you a brief warning to move away.
  • Added burning barrels
There were also several other changes and fixes. For further details, you can view the full changelog on the forums.

To coincide with this release, I'll also be hosting a multiplayer session this weekend (details here). All are welcome, so feel free to join if you can make it!

As always, please feel free to share your feedback and suggestions with me. It is always appreciated! The best ways of reaching me are on the forums, Twitter, or Discord.

Thanks for playing, and I hope you enjoy the update! :)

v0.24.1.1 Patch

I've just released a patch which I thought I should make an announcement about as it fixes a few potential crashes.

Here's what's been fixed:
  • Crash could occur when hosting a public game. This could happen if the router returned an IPv6 address while performing UPnP port forwarding.
  • Crash could occur if a resolution higher than 4K was used.
  • Crash could occur if the audio playback device became unavailable while the game was running.
  • Crash could occur if a controller is used and unplugged during play.
Thanks to the players who submitted crash reports to me! The reports are extremely valuable to me and helped me find and fix these crashes quickly.

If you ever experience a crash yourself, I highly encourage you to submit the crash report to help get it fixed as soon as possible. Please be sure to also include your e-mail address if you don't mind me contacting you about the crash (or letting you know when I've fixed it).

Before You Buy...

Final Days is currently in the alpha stage of development and is not yet finished. Before you buy, I encourage you to try the free demo first to get an idea of its current state. If you'd prefer to play it when it's finished, then please wait until it's out of Early Access.

CJ Poirier - A Note to Final Days
"Final Days may only be in alpha, but it is one of the best games I've played in a very, very long time."

About This Game

These are humanity’s Final Days… Dirty warfare has left most of the population mutated and thirsty for blood. Band together and battle for your survival!

Final Days is a fast-paced and intense co-op multi-player shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world. It attempts to blend retro arcade style with modern elements. The design goal is for the game to be quick and simple to play while providing an enjoyable challenge. Inspirations include titles such as Smash TV, Gauntlet, Killing Floor, and Left 4 Dead.

Can you survive?

Current Features

  • Battle ever-growing hordes of mutants as their numbers increase into the hundreds!
  • Enjoy intense multi-player sessions with as many friends as you can muster (up to 16 players!)
  • Play split-screen with up to 4 friends on the same computer (and still be able to join online/LAN games!)
  • Destroy the mutant hordes with several different ammo types and explosives
  • Think on your feet as the hordes (and sometimes other players) destroy the environment
  • Control the action using a twin-stick controller, Steam controller, or keyboard & mouse
  • Feel the tension as the realistic field of view forces you to check your surroundings
  • Locate threats using your “acoustic radar” which visualises where sounds are coming from
  • Test your skill with a unique aiming mechanism which varies accuracy (e.g. running will reduce your accuracy)
  • Choose from 3 game modes, 10 maps, and procedurally generated levels (with more to come)
  • Enjoy awesome tunes by The Groove Foundry
