If you're looking for a flight simulator game, but without all the fuss, and good keyboard/mouse controls, then I can highly recommend this game.

Training mode is very open and pretty much lets you do whatever you want - be that combating other fighters, or flying under low bridges in a bomber.

Unfortunaly there doesn't seem to be much of a mod scene, but overall I can highly recommend this game.

Stupid DRM, it limits the number of times you can install. I reformatted my computer recently and I'll never be able to play this game again. Thanks Obama!

So I was playing another game and suddenly it shut itself down (losing my progress in that session), in its place Wings of Prey decided to start itself... why, you ask? to update Yuplay of course!

The game itself is good but the MALWARE it comes bundled with needs to be removed.

If you can get past yet ANOTHER DRM and giving information to a website that is in russian even when selected for english. If you ever wanted a "warthunder campaign" here it is. Very simular to warthunder in sound, look, flight feel, music, ability to go realism/arcade. Get it on sale - only way it can be recommended

This game is/was great. Unfortunately the devs left it alone and now they are developing a breaking thru towards the War Thunder, which still in the same base theater (Second World War), but with much more airplanes and Tanks!!!

Great game(s) by Gaijin.

You might think that i'm not the good guy to look for my review because I didn't play the game a lot but what I can clearly say is that I'm beeing in love with plane games since I was 10 and now i'm 16 and I still love planes game and I would greatly incist on somebody who actually want to get this but that is no so sure. If you're a guy who love simulation games this one is pretty good or either way if you like Arcade games this one is good for you because there is an option to put on the arcade mode. Great Game.

Having finally earnt my pilots license and obtaining a job crop dusting a marjuana field for the lovely black men just out of town, I was swiftly shipped back to the glorious fatherland to fly my new messerschmitt. Thinking I would serve my wonderul fuhrer I was shot down 3 minutes after taking off. I am writing this review from a prison in denmark. send help please.

Wings of Prey is comparable to that hot girl you had a crush on in high school. She was beautiful, the game is gorgeous. She had such elegance; WoP is very polished as a game. She has these abundance of little quirks (twirling hair, giggle, etc) that made you go wild, WoP has features to drool for (storyline, video replay, squadron control, etc).

Then one day you just don’t get excited to spend time together anymore, the romance fades, you realize she has no personality and is becoming obnoxious with her emotional issues. The replay ability is lost, you get frustrated with the poor aerial match-ups, there is no customization or sand box mode, and your AI enemies always seem to defy the laws of physics.

But no matter what, it was a fun ride while it lasted. 80%

I hadn't played this game for quite a while, but recently I did a major PC upgrade and reinstalled it. I had forgotten what a fun little game this is. It really sucks that the multiplayer is degraded, but it is still fun.

If you are looking for a high fidelity sim then look elsewhere. This is not a study sim like Falcon 4, DCS A-10C, or the IL-2 Series. It is a bit arcadey but the physics are fairly responsive and realistic and the visuals are outstanding. Campaign missions flow in their own way, and you get to experience several different sides to WW2 flying. With the addition of the Luftaffe DLC it seems to provide a reasonable all round experience.

Combat is a bit arcadey with fairly predictable AI and an overwhelming urge to be the lone saviour of every battle. It is, however, easy to task wingmen to perform essential roles thus relieving you of the burden of the missio0n so you can go round shooting everything that flies :-).

As for controls, being a bit of a flight sim nutter, I used one of my simple joysticks with no issues. I cannot comment on any other control method as I have not tried them and don't really intend to. Joystick was simple to set up and allowed me to use almost every function from the stick without having to resort ot the keyboard very often at all.

All in all this is an enjoyable semi-sim. I would recommend it if you want an easy to get into light sim. For a flight sim nut...probably not unless you are looking for an entertaining session of blowing s**t up.

I'm not a flight sim guy but after 20-30 hours of training, I was able to figure out how to take off, fly, prevent my plane from stalling, get a plane out of a spiral, and actually destroy a few enemie planes...and then land (usually) - WHILE PLAYING ON SIMULATION MODE.

Good fun but you need to put in the time.

I recommend for someone looking for a sim but anyone looking for an arcade game, go elsewhere. This is not for you.

Brief summary of Wings of Prey:
A "Holywood" flight combat sim. Looks and sounds great, exciting to play, but lacks in mission design, AI and flight model.

+Lots of missions and planes.
+Great visuals. Variety of day/night and weather conditions. Nice effects: glare, cockpit scratches, damage (bullet holes, damaged ailerons, broken gauges etc.). Cockpits look great.
+Immersive 5.1 sound.

-Some of the missions in the campaign are frustratingly difficult. Some are bugged (e.g. objectives not triggering correctly).
-Stalls are a bit unrealistic.
-Poor documentation: Some things are never explained, like how the I-16 engine will die if you pull negative Gs, or how to use propeller pitch and radiator.
-Haven't played MP, but looks like online is basically dead.

~TrackIR is a big advantage, both for watching your six in dogfights and for spotting ground targets.
~Joystick (preferably HOTAS) is a must. Gamepad or keyboard+mouse won't cut it.

This game is so fantastic. There's an outstanding amount of detail put into the little things. If you're someone who is into flight combat- especially of the World War II era, this is a game very much worth taking a look at. I spend all of my time in the extremely intuitive training mode; There are many options to have hours of fun with. Once you're finished shooting enemy aircraft out of the sky you're able to watch the replay; It is so awesome to check out the dogfights from different perspectives! Taking screenshots is half the fun! All of the locations and plane models look beautiful, and are very detailed; Don't expect to fly several thousand feet into the air and see Google Maps when you look down. The planes look great, and all have a variety of liveries to check out. The damage modeling on these Warbirds is something else; I think it's amazing. From having a small nick on the canopy, to a very specific section of a wing cleaved off. Wings of Prey sounds incredible. The planes' interiors and exteriors, weapons, rain, and wind sound effects are unbelievable. The game even has a top quality soundtrack! Everything from triumphant anthems to tragic melodies. I think Wings of Prey is a wonderful World War II flight combat game. I love it!

Finally a combat flight simulation that offers a realistic mode and also a casual mode for groundhogs like me. Playing on realistic is a challenge, as you can easily stall and crash, but it seems as close to the real thing as you can get in front of a screen. Can be used without a flight stick, but of course using one is heavily recommended.
I thought I would never enjoy another WW2 game, as the topic has been abused ad nauseam. But this one is worth playing even if the mention of WW2 usually has you running in the other direction at escape velocity.

Amazing attention to detail, custom options to set difficulty from arcade to ultra realistic, fun online game modes and fantastic co-op gameplay IF you buy the Wings of Luftwaffe Add-on. World War II air combat pilots will be proud.
